The MAKE POVERTY HISTORY campaign calls world leaders to honour their commitments to the Millennium Development Goals, an eight-point plan for tackling poverty.
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight goals to be achieved by 2015 that respond to the world's main development challenges. The MDGs are drawn from the actions and targets contained in the Millennium Declaration that was adopted by 189 nations-and signed by 147 heads of state and governments during the UN Millennium Summit in September 2000.

Last year over 43.7 MILLION people around the globe took a stand against poverty on the international day for the eradication of poverty by participating in "Stand Up"events in their local communities.

The quickest way to make poverty history would be for everyone in the western world to adopt a plant based vegetarian or vegan diet. The subject has been extensively written on and books in regard to poverty/meat consumption are in abundance. Anyone who takes world poverty seriously has to go vegetarian or vegan in order to 'practice what they preach'.
