Writing and sports, as you may have already figured out from my About Me section. To be specific about the latter, I'm an avid tennis player. I also love boxing, basketball (Knicks!) and football (Jets!). I enjoy photography (no digital camera for me, I'm a 35mm guy), keeping physically fit through a variety of activities, and I guess you could call me an aquarium enthusiast. I like to barbeque, sipping creative cocktails in trendy lounges, wasting a little time on Playstation, still have love for old school board games, shopping at garage sales and ebay auctions, watching infomercials for merchandise that is clearly fraudulent, and various other activities that I won't bore you about here.
Music
Quite varied. I'm very much into jazz, plus R&B and hip hop when I'm more in the mood to sing or rap along than to simply bop my head and tap my toes. I'm as much a sucker for a catchy pop tune as the next guy, possibly owning the record for listening to a Black Eyed Peas CD the most consecutive times. Plenty of rock music appeals to me as well, especially the work of U2, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Green Day, Lenny Kravitz, and you can never go wrong with the Stones. I'm from the Caribbean, so calypso or reggae hits the spot, or perhaps I should just broadly state that the genre called "world music" takes up a fair share of memory on my iPod - with special mention to Brazilian, Cuban, and music by the AfroCelts. Every now and then I'll even find a country tune strongly to my liking, and I'm working on developing an ear for classical. My most favorite musical artists are now and probably always will be Miles Davis and Prince.
Movies
Also quite varied. Among my favorites are Cinema Paradiso, Hannah and Her Sisters, Scarface, Lone Star, Pulp Fiction. Too many to continue mentioning.
Television
My current faves are Curb Your Enthusiasm, Extras, Entourage, The Office, My Name is Earl. I like well written shows that either highly amuse or else seriously enthrall me. The shows I just mentioned accomplish this. Reality TV does not, which is why I'm usually channel searching for a movie or sports. The Sopranos will be missed, and I'm very disappointed that Arrested Development never got a fair shake.
Books
Amongst my favorites are Love in the time of Cholera (Gabriel Garcia Marquez), The World According to Garp (John Irving), The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Mark Twain), Native Son (Richard Wright). I'm also a big fan of works by Ernest Hemingway, Charles Dickens, Tom Robbins, Tim Sandlin, John Updike, Toni Morrison, Kurt Vonnegut, Raymond Chandler, Walter Moseley, Cormac McCarthy...

*****Besides writing literary fiction, I am a journalist. Suite101.com hosts archived issues of my column entitled:
Who I'd like to meet: I enjoy conversing with authors and journalists about the craft of writing. Book reviewers are also encouraged to drop me a line. Fellow tennis addicts are invited to bend my ear along with sports fans in general, particularly those who pull for the NY Knicks (even if they've lost all respect for the GM/coach) and the NY Jets. If you're an editor at a major publishing house or literary magazine, or a literary agent who specializes in securing 6-figure deals for your clients, you've got a friend in me. Mostly though, I look forward to hearing from my readers.
