About me:

We are the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).

We are researchers who created the Mpowerment project; designed from multi-site projects first implemented in Eugene OR (1995), Albuquerque NM (1997) and Austin TX (1998). We then poured this experience into the Mpowerment manual. We are currently updating the manual (please send us your publicity materials and pics of your program). Interested in implementation we launched Translating Research into Practice "TRiP" it provided free technical services and trainings across the country while studying organizations.

Who I'd like to meet:

Welcome projects, coordinators, Core Group and volunteers, supervisors, EDs and funding agencies across the United States & Puerto Rico. Experiencing barriers to implementation? Having success? Learned some crucial lessons along the way? Here is a place to share and meet others going through similar experiences. You are not alone.

Thank you for your dedication to slowing HIV in your community, and don't forget to have fun implementing your project!

    meeting in la

An idea to get other MPowerment projects together to talk about the intervention. Support each others efforts and have the CORE group members meet. We would love to hold a one day retreat and possibly invite a trainer to help facilitate the process. It was a great experience.

I'm glad you like all of our pictures! It's about time right?

It took a while for me to get a camera and to screen all the boys who didn't want to be online. Facebook pictures are going to be an even bigger mess since more of the boys refuse to be posted on there.

No, this isn't our new logo. This was the logo used for our M-Day Superhero event, inspired by Marvel's "House of M" comic book series. Our new logo is being debuted sometime after Pride. :)

Haha thanks for trying! I probably should've clarified. You leave a comment on OUR page for somebody else on the top friends list. Hopefully they'll come to our page and see that you've commented to/about them and then comment you back on OUR page. :) Does that make more sense?
  • Mar 3 2009 9:45 PM

Thank you for all your comments! I can't tell you how much we enjoy receiving them. :)

I'm tying to stay on top of the calender thing. I haven't found the time to put in this Month's events yet! But check back soon.

Pictures! yes! That's another little project I'm working on. First, we need a camera! But I'm hoping to make a Picture Album Scrapbook of this years events! Hopefully we'll be able to post them online as well, with the permission of each individual member. Check back for that too! Lol. :) :) :)
