Sounds Like
A Jam Band with Hooks.
Songs with real Lyrics.
Rock with roots.
Big stage energy with exciting dynamics amplified with rhythm and feel.
A veteran sound with more nooks and cranny's than an english muffin!
A tasty treat for the whole family!
Mr. Blotto was born in Chicago as an off-night vehicle for musicians who loved each others playing but were in different bands at the time. The only rule was that they would only play what they loved. That philosophy continues today and has led Mr. Blotto into unique musical situations.
Mr. Blotto takes the Jam band asthetic into areas unfamiliar to the standard Jam Scene. They have been known to cover entire albums by Led Zepplin and the Who as well as perform entire shows of Country and Reggae. Artists as diverse as the Grateful Dead, the Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson and The Velvet Underground have seen their material interpreted by Mr. Blotto in the 2000+ shows the band has performed in the last 15 years, yet covers only pepper the bands hefty catalog of original material stemming from five studio albums and other unreleased crowd favorites.
"Barlow Shanghai", the 5th and newest CD sees the band in collaboration with John Perry Barlow (lyricist to the Grateful Dead). This CD was released in 2006 and is available from the Official website www.mrblotto.com.

I think Blottopia will be even better than Lazy River (which I enjoyed thoroughly on the inside of the fence as a paying customer), but like with any music festival, you can always be busted for breaking the laws, especially in a situation like Lazy River where there were a ton of uniform wearing, badge sporting police all over the place. Don't fool yourselves into thinking Blottopia will be a care-free "do whatever you want" situation. As always, it's important to mind your p's and q's.
We only get to choose 1 fest to go to this year. We decided early to blow off the Lazy River Fest and go to Blottopia.
Now that the Lazy Fest is over, we heard the reviews from friends (busted for smoking weed, lost pipe and bag), read reviews online (Soundwagon got hushed) and witnessed first hand (from outside Vasa fences you could see lots of cops, but not many fans) we are so happy we chose wisely.
Hows it going guys? Good to see you on MS. Been on a 3 days Blotto bender and thought I would look you up. One request....make the version of After It Rains downloadable on this MySpace page. Thats probably the best version I have heard. You guys rock. JV
