Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, The Beatles, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Roy Orbison . . . just about anything that is classic or 60s influenced.
Sounds Like
I think my sound is pretty original . . . but critics have put me somewhere between Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, They Might Be Giants and Jane's Addiction.
I create rock'n music for kids and their families--the kind of music that moms and dads can listen to with their kids. (Not the kind of children's music that makes you want to throw the CD out the window by the third track.)
I started playing for kids in the San Francisco Bay Area four years ago, and I've just released my second album (The Great Adventures of Mr. David), influenced by Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Neil Young and Johnny Cash.
Kids need cool role models, strong role models. They want to be around rock'n roll. They know what's cool and when you're being real. That means, if you're a rocker, then rock on. Bottom line: children respond to good music more than they respond to antics; give it to them, and they'll rock out harder than even the most hard core music fans.
Here's some street "cred": my latest album (The Great Adventures) was just named one of the Top 10 Albums for Kids and Families for 2006 by the The Fids and Kamily Poll. The poll is a consensus list of the year’s best kids and family music. It combines top 10 lists from critics, writers, radio programmers, and others involved in the music industry. Rainbow Of Butterflies… God-damn! That reminds me too much of Alice Cooper’s 1975 classic EP Welcome To My Nightmare. Remember the song Cold Ethyl? “She’s cool in bed. Yeah, she oughtta be… ‘cause Ethyl’s dead!” “If I live ‘til…97, she’ll still be chillin’ in Refrigerator-Heaven.”
