This page is mostly for Mr. Egg music, Ken Adams' solo and collaborative works. More will be posted soon on past, present and future news and info on Mr. Egg and Ken's solo projects. For now, listen to the great stuff here, and check out Ken's current band, Gravity Plan.
Members of Mr. Egg Form New Project Called Gravity Plan
Gravity Plan is a study in balanced contrast, consisting of one part indie guitar clamor, one part early 70s glam and prog with a dose of quirky pop humor. They produce confident alt-rock arrangements with fragile yet aggressive and frequently unsettling lyrics often melding psychedelic excess with lilting pop harmonies and beguiling melodies that can only come from four full-grown lads.
Gravity Plan has evolved from singer/ songwriter/guitarist Ken Adams former band and alter ego Mr. Egg along with Mr. Egg guitarist/singer Rick Ford, and longtime friends and collaborators bassist Bob Loeper, and drummer Bobby Michener.
Adams has finely honed his unique songwriting style cutting his teeth with several bands including the Texas cum San Francisco 90's band, Zen Babies, and a successful scoring career in the 90's. Ford, Loeper, and Michener complete the juxtaposition of style and influence with almost fanatical post-punk and psychedelic stylings based on influences by groups such as Television, Guided by Voices, Sparklehorse, and Built to Spill. With a repertoire that never feels redundant, from tunes about the impossible mission of a single sperm gaining entrance to an egg entitled Alkaline, or the glam meets punk of "30 Days", to the twangy alt. country influenced Ways of the Right, these songs deliver both edge and hook of alternative pop but with deeper progressive layers.
Gravity Plan has recorded a number of versions they call "One-Take Wonders" that were recorded live in one take (at least most of them) in Micheners Forest Knolls, California loft. They are currently preparing these recordings for an EP release, and tracking the basics for an upcoming studio album.
Based in the bucolic hills of West Marin, they perform in the San Francisco Bay Area.
