Rules and Responsibilities for Participants in the Mr. Escándalo 2009 Contest.
1. Participants must be legal US residents or citizens between the ages of 18 and 33. Males representing all races, creeds, and sexual orientations accepted.
2. Alberto and Fernando’s Escándalo Nights is a monthly, themed dance and entertainment party featuring NY’s top DJs, Rising Acts and Artists, Female Impersonators, Go-Go Boys and Girls and most Tolerant and Open Crowd. Escándalo Nights was created in order to provide a safe, welcoming environment where gay, straight, bisexual and transgender people of all races and creeds could come together and socialize. Candidates and sponsors of the Mr. Escándalo 2008-2009 contest, by their participation, behavior and words, agree to support the Escándalo Nights mission of tolerance, diversity and unity among its attendees, followers and supporters.
3. Final participants will be chosen at a preliminary closed contest by the organizers in late June. The final 12 contestants will be introduced onstage at July’s Escándalo Nights White Party and compete on August 17, 2008 live, onstage at Escándalo Nights. A panel of celebrity judges will make the final decision and award the prizes live at the August 17 Mr. Escandalo contest.

About me: Mr. Escandalo is the title of the new spokesmodel contest sponsored by Alberto and Fernando of Escandalo Nights fame. Art and fashion photography studio, Coquichulo Images, and Latino cultural magazine, Adelante, are also sponsoring the event.
The Mr. Escandalo 2008 Contest will be held Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Club Morocco, 3534 Broadway at West 145th Street in Washington Heights, from 10 PM to 4:30 AM.
The 12 final contestants were selected at the Escandalo Nights White Party on July 20 and will be featured on this myspace page and throughout various blogs and publications from now until the finals. The Mr. Escandalo 2008 Contest at Club Morocco on August 17, 2008, will feature a streetwear, swimsuit and very brief interview rounds before the winner is announced live onstage.
Grand prize is $1000 cash; the cover of Adelante Magazine's September issue; a special fashion spread in Adelante; a special modeling spread in a Paris fashion magazine; the cover of the Escandalo Nights 2009 "Men of Escandalo" calendar; and, a year's pass to Escandalo Nights.
The runner-up will receive $500; a September "Papi of the Month" spotlight in Adelante Magazine and a year's pass to Escandalo Nights.
All 12 finalists will appear in the 2009 "Men of Escandalo Nights" calendar. Proceeds from the sale of this calendar will be donated to Latino/gay youth organizations such as Hispanic AIDS Forum and the Hetrick-Martin Institute.
Additional prizes for finalists include a runway stint with a famed Latino designer during NY Fashion Week, editorial publication in various blogs and online mags, and a live morning runway show on Spanish-language TV.
