Mr. Gasparov aka Gaspa started as a drum'n'bass DJ when he was 16 in the year 2000, a time when d'n'b was as popular in Portugal as it was in Southern Micronesia. Later he joined forces with Fin and Simao to form the now extinct SHAKE crew, helping build the d'n'b scene in Portugal.
In 2003 he moved to Bristol, and stayed there for the next 4 years to study sound engineering, giving him enough time to get addicted to the new sounds of Dubstep and Grime, getting his weekly fix from Rooted Records and the mythical Bristol night. After this, he briefly moved back to Lisbon, where he headed the release of what would be the first portuguese dubstep compilation, Movimento Tugastep, motivated by the infamous Movimento parties @ Kubik, Lisboa. He also collaborated with portuguese Techno/House duo The Bastards, bringing a mad electronic touch to their powerful DJ sets.
2007 saw him move to Barcelona to study a Masters in Digital Arts. He now lives/works there and is a part-time dubstepper. His hi-tech live-act has taken him to festivals such as Boom Festival 2008 and Festival Cultrónica 2008, as well as numerous other venues, and he's a resident DJ at the Chorizo Show on SUB.FM (Fridays, 22-24 GMT). With some tunes already released and a lot more to come, 2009 will be the definitive year for Mr. Gasparov.
