2009 So Far...
For Henry Von, 2009 has been the year he has really begun to make a name for himself, with standout sets across the UK and Ireland that have been well received from both underground heads and party animals alike. In England he has built on his Excentric residency with gigs at Firefly Presents Bedbug (Nottingham), Back To Basics (Leeds), Ketoloco (Leeds), Superfly (Birmingham) and continued to attract a regular following acros the Irish sea at Kontakt (Belfast), Surround Sound Electronic (Limavady) and Hospital (Dublin).
There’s been 2 successful Rekluse label parties in Leeds and Limavady, but it would have to be his double set at Phil Kieran’s night “Kranc” at The Stiff Kitten (Belfast) that would be his gig of the year so far. Warming up for Phil and closing the night following on from Heartthrob...
Rekluse
2009 also saw the launch of the Excentric off-shoot “Rekluse” ...co-owned by Fergie and Mr Henry Von. Umek supplied the first release “2nd To None” which peaked at number 1 in the Beatport Techno charts and was still to be found in the top 100 over 6 months later. EPs from Psycatron (Planet E, Tronic), Henry Von himself and Kiko have shown the label to be steadily developing it’s own unique sound; high production standards and a perchant for the techier side of things but with an emphasis on exciting electronic music... for the big room.
Productions
Following on from Henry Von’s debut ep on Rekluse (which featured on Carl Cox’s latest Space 2009 compilation) and his remixes of Fergie “Blackeye-P” and Denney “12 Hours” comes a new remix of LA based artist Erphun (Viva, Herzblut) - due out in August - as well as his second appearance on the Excentric Muzik label with a remix of a new collaboration between Christian Smith & Reset Robot.
With fresh solo material currently being written and penned for an Autumn release he is sure to make an even greater impact with his fresh new sounds that have been picking up the plaudits from the likes of Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), Phil Kieran, Anderson Noise, Meat Katie and of course Fergie himself.
More about Henry Von...
Mr Henry Von has been with Excentric since day one, it all began many moons ago after plaguing Fergie with an endless supply of his mixes - a tactic that eventually saw the Ferg give in and put him on at a party he was hosting. A few years later and Henry Von has been resident for all the Excentric parties so far, from The Key (London) to Chic (Birmingham), from The Ice Factory (Perth) to The Custard Factory (Birmingham). Not forgetting the summer in Ibiza where he played each week alongside the likes of Slam, Gregor Tresher, Phil Kieran, The Japanese Popstars & Anderson Noise with the season culminating at the worlds biggest club, Privilege, when Excentric hosted the Coco Loco room for Meganite.
Henry Von has steadily built up a loyal following across the UK with his unique style of house & techno fun that takes a driving groove and adds a potent dollop of madness to it. His semi-live laptop set-up combined with his always-in-the-mix approach has also picked up many fans along the way. Other highlights from his short career so far include an appearance at Northern Ireland’s first ever techno festival, consecutive Boxing Day gigs at the Arches (Glasgow) (plus another 2 separate appearances at the club) and his summer residency at Dex In The City vs Monu Digital in London last year. With regular radio interviews and guest mixes along the way, his new found momentum in the studio and the Rekluse label he runs with Fergie, Henry Von is definitely someone worth keeping an eye on...
