About me: I'm a public defender by day. By night, a hoops junkie, music junkie, political junkie, among other things. I have a large record collection, and I'm in the process of cataloging in on rateyourmusic.com. Try this link -- I'm not close to done yet, by the way:
Mike's collection at rateyourmusic.com
I'm on Facebook:
I have a blog for music reviews: http://habloennui.blogspot.com/ . Please check it out. I also put out a list of upcoming shows in Chicago, and there's a box below that you can use to join.
Who I'd like to meet: Alasdair Gray, Malcolm Gladwell. Folks into some of the things I'm into, folks who can teach me something new.
While I'm open to hearing new bands and such, I'm tired of being innundated with friend requests from bands I've never heard of. If I don't get some sort of informative message with the request, explaining why the request was sent, I will reject it.
What Kind of Reader Are You?
Your Result: Obsessive-Compulsive Bookworm
You're probably in the final stages of a Ph.D. or otherwise finding a way to make your living out of reading. You are one of the literati. Other people's grammatical mistakes make you insane.
NOTE: Please refrain from posting comments that are advertising. A comment like, "Hey Mike, thanks for the add, check out my new CD" -- that's fine. But posting a jpeg of an upcoming show or order info for an album -- if you want to post an advert, then you might want to ask permission first and check out my rate card. If you post something that does not fit this criteria, it will be removed. Do it more than once, than you shall be dropped as a friend. (However, I reserve the right to apply this policy arbitrarily -- I might let a good friend spam. Might.)

Hey!!! What's Up? Just thought I would let you know what movies I've seen lately other than Rev Road. I've seen Watchmen, PS I Love You, and that's it. I thought there was one other one but no. I'm on a definite Jeffrey Dean Morgan kick.
I am a huge fan of The Spirit comics and have the two collections of the original Will Eisner comics that DC put together. After I saw the movie, I was left wondering whether Will Eisner would have approved of what Frank Miller had done with the character. I told someone I work with, who is familiar with comics and Frank Miller's work, some of the plot and he told me it sounds like Frank Miller. After that con versation, I became convinced that Frank Miller put more of himself and his sensibility in that movie than what Will Eisner had created. I thought the essence of the character of The Spirit was not bad but I had issues with everything else. Death personified? I don't think so!!
Hey!! How are you? I am obsessed with Charlie Chaplin after seeing the Robert Downey jr. film Chaplin!! And in my intro to cinema class we saw Chaplin's City Lights. I had started a paper on Chaplin but missed the deadline cause of technological problems. But it's cool cause I love Chaplin and love his films.
Hi, thanks for the add - hope you and your myspaced out friends like what we're doing - psych-meets-prog-meets-2008!
Our first single - 7" of lovely swirly and very collectable vinyl (only 300 pressed up) featuring new versions of Van der Graaf Generator's 'Theme One' + Small Faces' 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake', by Schizo Fun Addict - is out now. No.7 in Piccadilly Records' psych best sellers chart, playing now at www. myspace. com/fdmer2, along with some pretty good videos, live reviews, barely alive jokes, etc - all well-worth a look, we think!
