Hello, and welcome to myspzzzzz. Thanks for visiting this site and thanks for your interest in the music. First let’s get a few things out of the way. Yes, I recorded on Force Inc. Yes, I did two albums already as MRI. Yes, I'm NOT involved into Mille Plateaux and Force Inc. nowadays. Yes, I won’t listen to your music on myspace. Simply because I like the culture of vinyl and record shopping. OK, that’s that cleared up.
About MRI.
2000 saw the release of Rhythmogenesis, our first MRI project album. It was born out of our somewhat dichotomous love for ambivalence. The old moods of house, dub and boogie and the more cutting-edge sound of innovative reduced techno like for instance Basic Channel, Wolfgang Voigt and the early Hawtin sound. After a while someone clever invented a name and the genre microhouse was born. The album contained 8 tracks and during recording we were trying to bring back the soulful experimentation of the early club classics, mixing live and working with electronic instruments instead of plug ins. Simultaneously, the mood and minimalism of more recent dance music forms creep into the mix and production: Chicago's abstract track-modes, Detroit's futurism pads, Windsor’s minimalistic approach and the warmth of deep, deep dub.
Most of all, Rhythmogenesis left both DJs and dancers wanting more. Finally five 12-inches under the MRI alias ( several more under different names ) and a bunch of remixes later, “All that glitters”, the second longplayer emerged in 2002. The record featured
us working with a few different collaborators – including Kerstin Pfau ( Hacienda ) and Pat Appleton ( De/Phazz). We finished ten tracks on the album, among them a re-interpretation of Aaliyahs “Try again” which we transformed and stripped down into a dub tune and “Sane&Sound” which is pure dance pop and sung by Pat Appleton. Along the way there were some spectacular remixes for Luomo’s wonderful “Tessio” as well as for Gez Varley aka G-Man, Mathias Schaffhäuser, cologne based duo Misc. Venezuela based Onkel Brutalo and greek producer Lemos. Some single tracks within the more experimental field for Mille Plateaux series Clicks and Cuts and Electric Ladyland. Just check the player for a sample. Beside the work in the studio, we have toured extensively together and played Mutek, Fabric, Weetamix, Panoramabar, Robert Johnson, Fusion etc. just to name a few spots we’ totally respect and like. After over six years of being very busy with the label platform Resopal it’s time again for staying busy with continued releases from MRI. My former buddy and partner Frank left to continue on his own projects and I wish him all the best for his music and life in general, take kare ! Thinking back of our time in Frankfurt and the labels Force Inc, Forcetracks, and Mille Plateaux reminded me though that I love being in the studio, fooling around with tricky arrangements, pressing the knobs, starting demoing ideas for a next 12” and a follow up album instead of being involved too much into label work. Be excited, there will be soon a remix from FLUXION for MRI - who's producing excellent music in the fields of dub as well as a remix for U.E.S. track La Trutruka.
