I have a lot of different interests. I like to read books a lot, my favourites being detective stories like in the vein of what Agatha Christie wrote. I also love Star Trek. I also like the Cat Who series as well.
I enjoy doing drag. I debuted 1 April 2001 doing the single mix of Donna Summer's MacArthur Park. I've done material from many diverse artists since then. I like doing a mix of new songs, as well as songs from yesterday and some recent hits. Expect the unexpected when you see me onstage.
I also like listening to music, both for doing onstage in drag, and just for listening to around the apartment.
I also play the guitar, autoharp and appalachian dulcimer.
As well, I also enjoy spending time with my partner Patrick, whom I meet fall of 1998 after coming out of the closet. Sometimes we watch movies - some campy some serious, but it's quality time together.
I also have a childhood fascination with South Africa mostly because it was in the news so much in the '80's. Because of the internet, I have talked to many South Africans, learnt a bit of Afrikaans because of it, and want to eventually travel to South Africa.

Books
Biographies, music and mysteries are my favourite genres of books. I also wind up reading books that the English classes are reading at the school, so that way I can help our special needs students.
Heroes
My maternal grandmother, Stelsa W. Staley, who taught me strong work ethics, as well as how to judge the price of something and to see if it is a good deal or not. Also, my mother Dee Staley, for raising my sister and myself without much support from our father, and doing what she had to do.
About me: I have not too many secrets, because I believe honestly is the best policy. That applies to all aspects of my life. I'm not afraid to call things the way I see them - even if it is not in best interest to do so.
I spent a chunk of my late teens and early twenties hiding who I was because of my sexuality. Since then, I've learnt to be *me*, to love me for *me* and not give a crap.
I have goals in life, like most people. I have goals musically, which is why I play the guitar, the autoharp and dulcimer. I also contribute to a music magazine "Autoharp Quarterly". I have created an ezfolk site with some samples of my playing. http://c1.ezfolk.com/mrjop1975/ is the link
I have other personal goals that I've worked on and want to work on. Over the last 3 years I have dropped over 10 pant sizes. However, it was for *me* not others. I knew I wasn't in the best of shape and was having health issues. Eventually, I would like to have some plastic surgery done, and maybe botox as well. However, it's not for a quick fix type of thing. Mine would be to take care of the loose skin I have from loosing all that weight. The botox, well just because ;-) But it's all because it is what I want to do, not what others have told me to do.
Who I'd like to meet: Amber, for her courage to do her own thing and walk away from a record label and put out her own music.
Bonnie Raitt, for her prowess on playing guitar as well as activism.
Joan Baez for her guitar playing and activism as well.
Janis Ian - for being honest about her sexuality as well as her songwriting abilities.
Jim Verraros - for coming out of the closet and being the first openly gay person to have done any of the American Idol shows. Plus when he signed When I Fall In Love.....
Kathy Griffin - for laying it on the line in her standup (& honey I was way D-list before you hehehe.) Also I like her ability not to be ashamed or embarrassed about what she has to say about other celeb's. It's kind of how I am in my everyday life.
And finally, Kirstie Alley. I admire her acting ability, as well as her weight loss, and going on Oprah in the bikini! You go girl! She is my diet idol, because I started doing something about my weight because of seeing the Jenny Craig commercials with her even though I don't do Jenny Craig.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
