"The future of NYC hip-hop" said Buckwild, famed producer, when speaking of MaG. Hip-Hop/Rap artist MaG, was born and raised in the birthplace of Hip-Hop, Bronx, NY. With a hard working single mother MaG soon found himself alone most nights free-styling and acting out scenes. MaG would graduate from F.H. LaGuardia High School of Music, Art and the Performing Arts with a drama scholarship from Continental Airlines and the League of Theaters and Producers. After realizing that music was his true calling, he officially began his emceeing career. MaG can be heard on mixtapes by Chaundon ("Carnage"), Rich London, DJ Denox, and DJ Wristpect, among others.
MaG recently re-released the mixtape album "Reaganomics", featuring Darien Brockington, G.O.D. of Pitch Black, Torae, Skyzoo and others and was produced and mixed by MaG, Vega Benetton ("XXL", "Scratch") and Dan the Man (mixed albums by Lil Kim, Big Pun, the Boot Camp Click, Torae, Skyzoo, and others). MaG was also a featured artist on allhiphop.com, hiphopgame.com, vinylmeltdown.com, kevinnottingham.com and other well-known hip-hop sites. MaG was the winner of DJ Green Lantern's Sonicbids Mixtape competition where he landed a coveted spot on Green Lantern's "Alive on Arrival" mixtape. MaG was a finalist in the 2008 Independent Music Awards and has also been nominated for URB.com's Next 1000. MaG also partook in Poly Prep High School's 2009 Community and Diversity Day, where he helped score the soundtrack to the short film for the event and recorded two songs specifically centered around the day's events, entitled "I'm Me" and "Sumthin' to C". MaG released the $5 Cover" EP along with Hipnott Records producer G.C. and KevinNottingham.com to rave reviews on November 2nd 2009. The EP has been placed on such notable sites as okayplayer.com and 2dopeboyz.com to name a few. MaG will be releasing his first solo LP "I Ain't Goin' Back to Retail" to round out 2009. Look for more projects and collaborations from MaG, and as he says: "I just hope the music I make can affect people in the way the music I listened to affected me. I want people to throw in a MaG joint and go ""wow, this reminds me of how it used to be....this reminds me of how music is supposed to sound"".
