Began playing in front of others of my species (actually there was a large variety of fauna of various species running around most of the places I played) in 1968. Played the Gaslight Cafe, Gerde's Folk City, and other mostly subterranean establishments.
Student of the late great Reverend Gary Davis 1969-1970. He called me a "sportin' gitar player". Dave Van Ronk said "that guy has a really good feeling for the blues" to my friend Roland Moussa whom he was sitting next to at the Gaslight. Spent a day with Bukka White in 1969. He asked me how come I didn't have a record out. Was scheduled to open for Skip James at the Gaslight but gig was called on the count of death (his not mine). " There are some real good guitarists here today!" said Brownie McGhee after hearing me play in a tent at the Ithica Folk Festival in 1971?. Led the bay area band" Grungie O'Muck with Rabies" in 1972 with my friend Jane McGarrigle, the eldest of the three McGarrigle sisters.
Baby sister Kate McGarrigle included a song to Mr. O'Muck entitled "Homage a Grungie" On The McGarrigle sisters second album "Dancer with Bruised Knees". Thanks Kate. Played Harmonica behind George Gerdes on public TV in LA 1971?. Opened for Freddy King, 1973. Been on a lonnnnngggg sabatical.
Happy New Year Mr O Muck - Thankyou for your friendship here and on the BBF I..m nothing but a simple Viola d@amore player "Gone Bad" Nikolaj Andersen - Denmark
The budget of the festival and the number of bands will be based on these presales. Please support the festival and help us bring in as many bands as possible.
We're featuring bands we like on our player each day. At least we're trying. The myspace player isn't always cooperating. Try selecting the alternate playlists. We can at least give you links to the bands myspace pages or websites.
These are bands that we hope to get involved with our festival. There's a lot of them. Check them out and add them as your friends. Send us a message and tell us how you like them and who we should be sure to bring in for the festival.
"Gone Foot Blues" is a priceless recording. Mr. O'Muck proveth that the pickin' of a geetah is beyond it's pedigree, treasury or filligree. Praise be to a true blue artiste: the won & onerous Mister Omuck!
Hey, Mr O'Muck, great site, great music, great big ole good times! Me too, I'm goin' straight right to 1928 (well, maybe could I take my laptop under my arm too, to be able to stay in touch with sites like yours?)!
