A REVIEW ON MR PARKER'S LATEST EP FROM THE TALK MAGAZINE JAN 2008
Mr Parker : Room With A View EP
Hmmmmm, nice. There is music of a certain persuasion that cannot help but inspire a Fast Show style desire to kick back and avoid over analysis. York based four piece Mr Parker are not purveyors of the kind of academic jazz that inspired such silliness but their funky soulful lounge songs are the true inheritors of this mood. "Just My Way" makes us crack a smile and root out our sunglasses with its up tempo acoustic guitar and sing along chorus. The band's adept musical ability comes to the fore, they are clearly an able bunch but they aren't trying so hard as to spoil the relaxed mood. The piano heavy "Come Back To My Life" sends us in search of a cocktail or two to go with this smooth number, backing vocals increasing the sass quotient to an agreeable level. "Passengers" sees some funky bass entering the bar with a keyboard solo on his arm. They, of course, look great together. "Killing Me" rounds things off with a fun hook fuelled dance tune, and confirms Mr Parker as an excellent host. It's all a perfectly pleasant way to spend a sunday afternoon in the summer time, with Mr Parker's breezy and stylish music ensuring that your troubles disappear and that you come to appreciate that good vibes, a spot of pleasant weather and a decent piece of music make life worth living. At other times? But now I'm thinking too hard. Hmmmmmm, nice indeed. martin cordiner

Let's just start by apologising for this "automatic comment" thing. We know it's annoying when bands you've never heard of spam your myspace.
However, this isn't meant to be spam. This is just a humble invite for you to come to our myspace, have a listen to the music and leave us some feedback? We'd really appreciate it, and we'll always reply to you.
Hope to hear from you soon (if we haven't already)
Hilarious two piece free-noise instigators from NYC. Kevin and Matt. Together they make Mavin or Kett. Relentless mezmorizing drums and synths that anticipate each other. A free roaming cacophony of dense aural matter from which a storm brews and rhythms pour down, but in the end the sun shines through. http://www. myspace. com/talibam
Very creative and smashing lads who make nice challenging music. View their myspace to see why they are 'smashing'. http://www. myspace. com/stignoise
BILBAO SYNDROME Jagged rocks and perverted Mr Wimpy's going for a burton with unwieldy claymores on bracken. Death Metal Funk. http://www. myspace. com/bilbaosyndrome

It seems like years since the last Moorfest happened and to be honest I think the weather was very much a factor in whether people enjoyed themselves or not. Some thrived in the mud whilst others wept until their dads could pick them up. Moorfest is still carving an identity for itself and in the three years that it has been established I think I can say that the one thing that most people love about it is the friendly atmosphere, and this gig is a good opportunity to meet up with friends that perhaps you haven't seen since the festival, to make new friends, enjoy quality music, get a flavour of Moorfest if you haven't already been and also to talk to the organisers in order to give your opinions on how to improve the festival. We'll also be projecting your favourite photos that you've taken from previous Moorfests to create a live mashup that will adorn the walls of the Brudenell so please send them to bandsformoorfest@yahoo.co.uk and make sure that everyone in the picture is cool for you to use them like this.
There'll be much more to boot like gorgeous organic food, t-shirt stall, films and raffles to win tickets to Moorfest 4 which we're working on right now and aim to make it the best yet.
We really appreciate your continued support in making Moorfest what it is and hope to see you all there.
