The Heart of a Pastor's Wife

My Father created me with my husband in mind
I'm a designer original. I'm one-of-a-kind.

My man doesn't need June Cleaver or Florence Nightingale
He needs a warrior who will help him rattle the gates of Hell
I nurse the wounds he takes for standing his ground
I wipe the tears that he cries when no one is around
I'm his armor bearer, I'm not just along for the ride
I'm called to be my husband's help-meet, a "lifegiver alongside"

From time to time I take those fiery darts too
It's part of the calling, I'm paying my dues
Some women are jealous, seeking power and glory
They don't even see the ugly side of the story
It's not my husband they want, it's the position I hold
So I face digs, jabs, eyes and shoulders that are cold
Don't think I'm out front to be seen by a crowd
God called me to ministry, my very life I have vowed

None of this will hinder me from pursuing His call
Jesus has captured my heart and won't let me fall
It hurts to see the man I love battered and scarred
Even more so when my children get hit really hard
Yet to whom much is given, much will be required
We keep going and refuse to stay stuck in the mire
We stand on God's Word and refuse to ever waver
That's how we stay "blessed, anointed, and highly favored"

The lows can be very low and the highs very high
All at once the clouds break, and you see a clear sky
The Lord is always faithful to what He says He will do
He gives victory to His servants if they remain true
With my head held high, I won't lay this cross down
One day I'm going to exchange it for a crown
He will call me "good and faithful" at the Judgment Seat
That's when I will cast that crown at His feet

When as a young girl I made vows, sealed with a kiss
I was being called to the Kingdom "for such a time as this"

I learned something new last week that has made a profound impact on me. We all know what a Q-tip is...but do you know what a QTIP is? A QTIP is an acronym for.....

QUIT
TAKING
IT
PERSONALLY!

Now that really helped today when a psychiatrist yelled at me in front of a patient, "QUIT TRYING TO HELP ME AND LEAVE ME ALONE, I'M BUSY." (I was attempting to help him with a computer issue though I'm a counselor and not IT.) He was so loud other employees heard him 50 feet away. I thought "QTIP" and just said, "Okay." and walked away. Powerful acronym! We cannot control others actions, just our reactions to them.
