There's also (fantasy) football (Steelers rule!), birding, reading, a scarily large comic book collection, politics, and snarfing lots of pizza (that's an interest, right?) | | Music | Mostly alterno rock. Top folks in tune rotation include They Might Be Giants, U2, REM... but a lot of genres get their share of airtime, too. Own ~2 dozen worldbeat cds. | | Movies | Film-o-phile with fairly ecclectic taste. Any list of greatest flicks ever must include Casablanca, The Usual Suspects, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, The Godfather, The Princess Bride, The Silence of the Lambs, Lord of the Rings trilogy, LA Confidential, Sunset Boulevard.... | | Television | Reality TV must die. Current shows worth watching: The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, Scrubs, Sportscenter and Pardon the Interuption, The Simpsons, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy... plus the occasional Law & Order ep. Some shows (like the Sopranos) I keep track of via DVDs. Best show in history: now defunct Homicide: Life on the Streets. | | Books | I read a lot of non-fiction - science stuff mainly (see my lists on amazon.com for just a few of the coolest science non-fiction). I geekily dig SF (Asimov, Gibson, Stephenson, Walter Jon Williams etc). While he's a big nut, I like James Ellroy's work a lot, along with John Le Carre, some classic detective stuff, along with assorted other fiction now and then. And I can quote the Harry Potter books at will. Recommended: "Carter Beats the Devil". Avoid, big time: "The Devil Wears Prada". | | Heroes | Richard Feynman, Christopher Reeve, Jerome Bettis, mom + dad (putting up with me? Now that's heroic!) |

About me:
I work at a science center in Connecticut. I've been in this line of work for 15 years, one way or another. Primarily, I do outreach - traveling to schools (and the occasional library, scout meeting etc) to present science programming. Hence the name... Mr. Science. The photo on my home page is of me at the 2005 Association of Science and Technology Centers annual conference. A cohort from another center brought a prop used in one of her demonstrations - a gigantic model nose. Now that's funny! I live the condo life with my wife, and our two insane cats.
