Mr. Smalls Studios is located in Pittsburgh’s historic North Side, just blocks from Heinz Stadium. Our studio is constructed in a 20,000 square foot facility which includes an enormous tracking room, three large isolation rooms, a beautiful control room, a lounge, game room and kitchen. We record through a Pro Tools HD 3 Accel System running on a Dual 2.0 GHz PowerMac G5 with a digidesign Control 24 mixing console. We have a large selection of analog outboard gear, and an extensive microphone collection. We also offer an Ampex ATR-800 ½ inch 2 track a analog tape machine for mastering. This versatile collection of gear enables us to integrate the best of both analog and digital audio. House instruments include a Hammond Organ with a Leslie cabinet, Rhodes piano, Drum kit, and several guitar and bass amps.
We offer many services, but the recording, mixing, and mastering of music is our specialty. With our multiple room facility several musicians can be recorded simultaneously. Large pains of glass separate the rooms so musicians maintain the feeling of playing in the same room. With our independent headphone monitoring systems each band member has individual control of their headphone mix. We strive to make the recording process comfortable and easy whether you a local, regional or national artist. Our quality is unsurpassed.
