   Man on the Moon's Blurbs
About me:

I'll assume that your interest in this profile is out of boredom. That's understandable. I get bored often too. But, that's who I am. I'm also very curious. That's me: curiously bored. These are the parameters of my behavior. And, if you are knowledgeable in tales of curious cats and idle hands then you'd understand that if these qualities were mutually exclusive they'd be dreadful. In the instance of who I am, well, I am in the moderate of these two qualities.

On this side of the universe, this "myspace", I'll share with you how I alleviate both my curiosity and my boredom. As our culture is of eclecticism, I share that view in vices: Music, Books, Movies, and hanging out.

I'm also a wanderer. In life and on a dirt path, I enjoy walking and witnessing the hullabaloo that occurs around me. When my will is required to intervene, I do so knowing that my actions will assist and not harm. My way is that if I am needed, I am asked. Otherwise, I keep on my path.

Sometimes, I have companions/friends on these paths. I take pride in knowing who they were at those times. But, with time, friends and I move on. That's the thing about paths, each one is subjective.

This might not help you understand who I am, but to be honest: I'm the simplest person you will know. I value logic, honesty, sincerity, and passion. However, even now, you're own perception of this letter is skewed because everyone sees these words as their own.

Who I'd like to meet:

People. Or aliens. Dogs are nice too. Cats are nazi's.

Given that we had similar takes on Watchmen I am concerned. I can see the opening scenes opening w/ he having flashbacks from the bonding process and being week on the rest of the story.

On a comic related note, I will have a solo show, Comic related, on the 25th of this show. It should be fun.
Swing by for this one or the chalk fest in Long Beach on the 19th!

Here's one of those great hypothetical/intellectual conversations that r perfect for coffee and cigarettes :D
So, a friend inquires about a netflix rental I've held onto called Secret Things. He goes and rents it based on my recommendation, and begins to ponder: why are great films of substance almost penalized in the States?
This is where we could have used your psychological background, the question arise:
"Which is the active agent in terms of art: the market or the demand? And how would a concentrated area, subjected to "independent" films only be affected behaviorally: increase in demand for greater quality or be driven to greater lengths to find a viable recourse?"
See this as, a mediated conditioning of a selected urban society and removing the visceral images and social norms associated with films, to see if progression will show in the community or the value of "entertainment" and perceived escapism is too great in stabilizing a community.

Then we got into what defines "independent films" and whether this foreseeable future is a golden era for independent films.

I got this at my birthday party LoL how well do my friends know me :D

lol, I agree w/ you. Watchmen deserves all the critical acclaim, financial success and general recognition because it deserves it and I am sure it will get. Really, we know it has a storyline on a different level than any comic/graphic novel past and present.

I think the reason I am excited about GIJoe though, is because I did not think they were going to ever create something cool w/ the costumes and stuff.

In the end, I am going to see both, X Men:Weapon X, and pretty much any other super heroe movie out there, lol.

I am so more into GI Joe Rise of Cobra, lol, than Watchmen now. Check out the trailer (I placed it in my blog).

I'm glad there's someone my social group who realizes this album exist. But! I haven't listened to it yet, for this reason..

So, I think Jay-Z is a tremendous talent because he was a pioneer in revolutionizing hip hop, which is always about the streets, drugs, and the pursuit of money. It's also commercializing our existence but that's another story LoL
But these artist would continue rapping about the streets, drugs, and money even though they moved into mansions.
NOW! Jay-Z, was one of the first to understand this conflict and started a new movement to lyrically express the streets as a memory and how he has incorporated that into the traits of a businessman.
Now we get to radiohead's music. Which is much more sublime, mechanical, dreamy, and circumvents ideas of loniless, anti commercialism, and the inner struggles of staying true to yourself.

SO!! Minty Fresh Beats must be a genius in mashing these 2 greatly contrasting forces, or is just another attempt to reduplicate the great success of Danger Mouse with The Grey Album.

...either case, I'm growing kinda tired of mash-ups LoL but I'll give it a listen

Jan 18 2009 12:52 AM

I did!
Thanks for the recommendation :)

It was a nice work of story and art. I just had an issue with Dora writing a letter to Josue which within the context of the story makes sense...
but the kid doesn't know how to read LoL
Obviously his brothers can't help and I doubt anyone in that village can help read the letter LoL

Suggested similar viewings:
Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles (Directed by Yimou Zhang, who's the Asian Steven Spielberg and was the director/visionary of the 2008 Olympics)

Kikujiiro (Takeshi Beat Kitano film. Like Woody Allen and Quentin Tarantino, Kitano's films work best when he's in the film)

Yi-Yi (The kid is just fuckin' adorable...but beyond that, it's also a Criteron film and just an all-around feel-good movie)

But thanx again for the recommendation :)
For the record, I don't blame Dora, that kid was a prick LoL

Thanx for the suggestion :D
I'll watch it tomorrow night.

No sports related programming so I need something to do when I get home hahaha

O! And the blame for Darjeeling Limited has to equally delegated.
Wes Anderson. Proving Owen Wilson might be more talented than we all thought (co-writer of Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums)
Roman Coppola. I LOVE his movie CQ, and he's making great advancements as an inventor....
...and the co-writer I SOLELY blame Darjeeling Limited on: Jason Schwartzman!!!
You know, I never understood the absolute hatred my friend Nick has for him until that movie.
Schwartzman is cancer. He's killed Phantom Planet, decent band. He's almost killed Sofia Coppola's career (thankfully), and his prune has the audacity to make his first attempts as a writer and dragging Wes Anderson along just because they're cousins!
...don't get me started on his band Coconut Records...LoL

Damn that Jason Schwartzman.

Didn't he co-produce Slumdog Millionaire? What's with him and India? Does he have a thing for M.I.A.

LoL that's right...I'm starting those rumors
Dorkus Malorkis

Jan 10 2009 9:33 AM

Well if you're gonna compare Slumdog Millionaire to the lower standard of Romantic comedies, of course this movie is great LoL
My scale, far or not, is whether this film will resonate and still be relevant 5 years from now.
My answer, would be no.
I am fully on board with the idea we as a society will have reached complete complacency and back-track to an abrupt infatuation of studio movies if this film is considered "Best Picture".
But we can further dissect and discuss another time, perhaps with Danny and Vasthy present.
Yeah just hit me up when you need a break from your books and I know My Bloody Valentine: 3-D and Notorious is coming out soon :D LoL hmm!?!?

We can get street cred or 3-D glasses.
Ur call LoL

Jan 10 2009 8:15 AM

LoL fuck, sorry.
I always forget not everyone has an unlimited text messaging plan.
But can we at least do this over coffee or email, I don't wanna use MySpace unless necessary.

But non-western techniques!?!? OMG!
This had HOLLYWOOD written all over it.
...and I REALLY wanted to love this movie, and to be this utterly disappointed...man, take the money and run Danny Boyle.

But I will say this, the aesthetic and scenic shots savored my opinion of the movie and I wish Darjeeling Limited had looked this great.

...you owe me money punk!! LoL
