About me:
I'm a Jill of many trades: writer/lacemaker/dancer/pageant business manager/webmaster/Toastmaster/podcaster/sorority sister/journalist/blogger/onandon. I'll be hitting the big 50 in December 2009.
I'm not looking for any men. I already have a good one, thank you very much. And I don't want kids. I helped raise three sisters and am enjoying my four nephews, ranging from the oldest at 27 to the youngest at 3. I'm so proud of them. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind kids...just not my own.
I was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder in February 2003. I'm managing it, but I have to struggle with the mood swings every single day. I'm thankful to my friends and family for supporting me through this journey.
I have served as webmaster for the Miss Louisiana and Miss Massachusetts organizations. It gets really hectic around pageant week, though. Sometimes I wonder why I even get involved with pageants. And then I think about how much satisfaction this creative process brings me.
The creative process has brought me to write and publish a book,
"Myths America: A Practical Guide to Pageantry". It's a handbook to successful competition in the Miss America program. The updated second edition was published in 2009. I hope you'll buy a copy and read it.
I joined Beta Sigma Phi international sorority in July 2004. I progressed in February 2009 and now hold the Exemplar degree. I belong to the Online Alpha Phi chapter. It's great--about a million instant friends and women that I'm proud to call "sister".
I belong to the Big Easy Toasters of Toastmasters International. I serve as Vice President Education and am a past president of the club. I received the Advanced Communicator Bronze designation in June 2009. I joined in March 2003 and love it!
I am an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. That means, I can officiate any rite of passage ceremony. Are you getting married? Would you like a child blessed? Has someone close to you died? I can do all of these and more. I would love to officiate at your ceremony.
I am a licensed amateur radio operator. I passed the Technician class exam in May 2007 and hold the callsign KE5ONZ.
I received a title of my own: Ms. Civic America 2008. My crowning was a complete surprise. No, I didn't sleep in my crown. :)
