Bullet Treatment/Dead are Walking Review (Thom White/Citizine)

"On wax, Ms. Liza Graves has the raw, heavy smoker vocal thing down

pat, and pulls off the "naked chicks with guns" act without a hitch on the

striking cover art. Like all the promo literature says, this band is all

about the "American Hardcore" style that existed briefly in the 20th century

before any metal influence integrated / infiltrated into the punk rock sound.

Civet /Massacre

One thing that definitely sets Civet apart from other girl bands, other

than a more hard core sound, is the lyrics. Where a lot of girls may write

lyrics that border somewhere in between whiney and sappy Civet pours

out songs that while they may be emotional they aren't a bunch of chicks

crying about the guy who hurt them and how they feel weak and

abandoned. These are songs written by strong women who have no

regrets about the decisions they've made and have no problem telling

guys to fuck off when need be, the best example of this my be Bleed

and Burn, it rocks like a man but tells you to go to hell as only a woman

could.

Civet/Massacre

Civet plays a whole lot tighter than The Runaways generally managed,

and Liza Graves' vocals sound like Joan Jett, Paula Pierce and Courtney

Love ramped up-tempo to hardcore word-spitting pace. ( Eli Messinger /

ON LA INK (PART 2!)

Civet- Hell Hath No Fury (Thrash Magazine) What if Joan Jett really,

really rocked? What if The Distillers' Brody Dalle had better things to do

than prove over and over and over just how punk she is? Either option

might lead to something along the lines of Civet's "Hell Hath No Fury."

It's a pure street punk fury with blistering speed, great guitar leads,

group vocal choruses and memorable hooks.
