I know most of you reading this have already had the thought of "this wont happen to me" or "this stuff doesn't happen in MT." Did you know that men who have sex with men (MSM) make up nearly 2/3 of all people living with HIV/AIDS in Montana? That's alarming! The average age a new person is diagnosed is 37, however, last year 41% of newly diagnosed HIV cases received an AIDS diagnosis at the same time. Meaning, they got tested to late! It does happen and HIV/AIDS are here in Montana. Over 75% of all newly dignosed cases reside in the 7 most poplulated counties, including Yellowstone! With education, consistent & correct condom use, and regular HIV/STD screening we can reduce the transmission of HIV. This would ensure timely entry into care and treatment. We don't have to get HIV - IT'S NOT WHO YOU ARE, BUT WHAT YOU DO THAT PUTS YOU AT RISK FOR HIV!
*** Every man that uses a condom 100% of the time when having sex with another man *** Every man that is in a monogomous relationship with another uninfected man ***

About me: Hello! Welcome to the Yellowstone AIDS Projects page for our msm retreats. 2009 was our first year hosting HIV prevention retreats for gay/bisexual men 18 and older. We held three retreats: June 6, August 8, October 17. Each retreat was filled with great speakers, free lunch, and great incentives and time for networking. We greatly appreciate all of the support and positive feedback we've received!
Watch our page for changes and new information. Hopefully (cross your fingers) we'll be able to do these retreats again next year. Updates will come just after the first of the year.
Remember that the Yellowstone AIDS Project offers FREE and ANNONYMOUS rapid HIV testing, results in just 20 minutes. If you don't live in Billings, contact us for a location near you.
Need condoms and/or lube? Come see us and get it for FREE!

I just wanted to clear up any confusion regarding the "heros" section of our page. The intention was to promote the ABC approach - Abstinence – Be monogamous - Condoms. The only 100% way to protect yourself from HIV/STDs is abstinence - abstaining from all sexual activity and risky situations. The second way to protect yourself is to be in a mutually monogamous relationship with an uninfected partner. In that case you have been tested and your partner has been tested, you both know you're not going to trasmit anything b/t one another, and you're in a committed relationship where neither of you will be with anyone else. The third way to project yourself is through the use of condoms, 100% of the time. This can be if you are HIV positive, have another STD, or are not in a mutually monogamous relationship.
I appreciate your questions and concerns. Always remember your ABCs :)
So I read on your Hero's list there is a entry of a man who has a truthful relationship with another "uninfected" man.......so what about the "infected man"?..... they are just another breed and need no love or what.....I believe a positive and negative can have a beautiful relationship as long as they respect one another and are right away truthful and understanding.....I've been there, and good things can happen from confusing relationships.....you act like the "infected" have no right to have love and a life because of their past and what it has brought to their present......EVERYONE has the right to be loved and to love NO MATTER WHAT!
