J Ross Parrelli CD Release
With the freshest infusion of jazz, reggae, old school Hiphop and Motown soul, J Ross Parrelli brings back the rare originality and attitude that defines great musicians. Her uncanny ability to intermix song, rap and poetry within the same verse over Funk, Reggae, Soul and Hiphop tracks and around social, political and life issues has garnered the support of loyal fans along her tour routes from the West Coast of the United States to the West Coast of Africa. Performing alongside her female DJ, Mighty JuneBugg, and unique and versatile, band ADACA SOUL, J Ross-Parrelli sets a stage for an audience of any, genre, age and culture.
Parrelli creates earthly music; feel good music; music that brings a fresh break to a busy day. Parrelli is a cool and refreshing breeze in a stale music industry; her faith in music will uplift any audience.
It has been said that Parrelli’s voice vibrates the sweet hymns of Aretha Franklin, the rich melodies of Ella Fitzgerald and the graceful sophisticated flows of Lauryn Hill. Parrelli has the soul and power of a gospel singer and sultry mood-setting effect of a great depression jazz singer. A socially conscious songstress, she has a very distinct music personality, one that stands out amongst female emcees and singers. In an era when socially conscious, inspiring and message-based music is largely absent, Parrelli gladly embraces leadership as she takes the stage delivering soulful messages of self-determination, strength and pride.
A musical luminary in her own right, Parrelli regularly shares the stage with legends/friends such as KRS-ONE, Pharcyde, Luciano, Jurassic 5 and Supernatural (the world renowned freestyle champion); and was invited to participate in the ‘Self-Destruction Part 2” collaboration, spearheaded by legendary Hip-Hop icon KRS-ONE and the Stop the Violence Movement”.
In 2006-2007 Parrelli was booked for an amazing and life-changing two month tour of Africa’s west coast reaching an audience of more then 40,000 people. Parrelli’s tour schedule continues to swell as she has been found headlining and performing at various festivals such as The Mt Shasta Renegade Festival, North West World Reggae Festival, Sierra Nevada, Lafayette Music and Cultural Festival, Caesar’s Casino of Lake Tahoe and Nigeria’s Calabar World Music Festival. As a college-educated artist, J Ross was a standout teammate with the Cal State Long Beach Poetry Slam Team from 2004-2005, and was awarded the Best Political Poem in the nation with her piece, “J Ross-Parrelli for President”.
Parrelli’s solo debut, Soooul Full Mixed Jams is scheduled for release in July 2008. With her U.S. tour, currently being mapped out, Parrelli is now working on her highly anticipated sophomore and major label album which is as yet untitled but, produced by Jamaica’s finest, Native Xamaycan. Collaborating with artist such as Speech of Arrested Development, Pharcyde, Akil of Jurassic 5, Sizzla and the undisputed world famous freestyle king, Supernatural, Parrelli’s sophomore project will be released in early 2009.
With multiple projects on deck and demands for live performances and feature collaborations, J Ross-Parrelli pursues her goals and works to leave a lasting impression upon the eyes, ears and souls of people across the globe…
