Hello.
My name is Maja Svisdahl.
I..m a singer/songwriter from Norway. I write my own songs in Norwegian, by some reason that comes much more natural to me than writing in English.
I..ve always sung for as long as I can remember. Wherever and whenever I went you would always catch me singing or humming a tune. I was a walking human music box, I never shut up. Either that or I would sit for hours drawing and making up stories about the characters I made on the paper. I was a child with a huge imagination.
I also played the violin from age 12 to 16, but me and the violin clearly weren..t made for each other so I quit playing. I never stopped singing though.
Through school I would always write something, it was like you opened this tap and all these words came pouring out. It..s still like that today. During school I never put music to what I..ve written, that came later.
My first serious attempt with songwriting came at the age of 21 when I attended NISS (Nordic Institute for Stage and Studio) to study Popular Music for 2 years.
Wow, I thought; this is what I want to do for a living. At NISS I got to know and work with lots of very gifted young people. I also learned a lot.
Especially one thing that makes music so magical for me is this:
When you hit that special connection with other people when you..re performing on stage is almost indescribable. It..s the best rush there is!
After I graduated from NISS, I moved home and continued to write music.
During the last two years I..ve also got involved in arranging and being one of the contributing acts to the singer/songwriter-project "UHØRTscene" which started up in 2007 in my hometown Trondheim. All the different people, the music they bring on stage and the positiveness.. I love it!
It..s a steep and occasionally very interesting learning curve. Though It feels like I..ve been doing this for all my life (an old clichè I know), my journey has only just begun.
It..s due yet to know what the future holds, but it..s exciting!

Maja! Hey, how are you? The apologies are mine, I let it go didn't I? Hope you are really busy performing and singing - I am very busy :) - we have no snow, it is actually really warm, bees flying etc! Of course, we'll pay for it later I am sure....very best Christmas wishes to you :)))
