STATEMENT FROM ABIKU:
"Before we started releasing actual f'real CDs, we just put out tons of CDRs, tapes, and split 7"s. The most popular of these was a CDR called Novelty. We wrote and recorded it in Philadelphia, when we were living in a house a friend of ours had just bought. It was a 7 bedroom house in the Mantua section of Philadelphia, and it cost her all of 10 grand. Electricity, running water, windows, functional roof, etc, not included. It's a house I still hear stories about from everyone who visited, even 7 years later, as the scariest house they'd ever been in; a house my squatter ex boyfriend was afraid to set foot in. In the winter, when we had electricity in a few rooms, we began work on Novelty. Despite, or because of, the cold haunted house it was recorded in, the recordings are still some of our favorites, and we still play many of the songs. They never got a proper recording until now, and we added in a few other songs from that era that we felt deserved to see the light of day. It's also an enhanced CD, and has all our old CDRS and basically everything that's out of print in MP3 form."
