Modern TanzMusic is first of all about visual music, about creating the soundtrack for an imaginary film, blending together pop, groove and sound experimentation. It is also about the fascination for Europe's "thirty glorious years" and their effects on society today in a hyperindustrial and virtual world.
The guys from Modern TanzMusic are in love with rough, imperfect sounds (vintage keyboards, electro-saz, magnetic bands…), and their musical references are 60's & 70's French movies soundtracks, krautrock, funk or bossa nova.
Most importantly, the band explores all those things without ever losing sight of the essential, that is to say a certain sense of humour, rambling somewhere between a space trip and a fantastic voyage to the supermarket.
Modern TanzMusic, c'est d'abord une musique visuelle, la bande son d'un film imaginaire réunissant pop, groove et expérimentations sonores. C'est aussi une fascination pour les trente glorieuses et leurs répercussions sur le monde actuel, hyperindustriel et virtuel.
Amoureux de sonorités rugueuses et imparfaites (claviers vintage, électro-saz, bandes magnétiques...), les musiciens de Modern TanzMusic ont pour références musicales les BO de films français des seventies, le krautrock, le funk ou la bossa.
Tout cela est exploré sans jamais perdre l'essentiel, c'est-à-dire un certain sens de l'humour, voire un sens de l'humour certain, quelque part entre un trip au supermarché et un voyage dans l'espace.
