About me: Mt. Helix Productions launches the inaugural concert season at the Mt. Helix Amphitheatre, La Mesa, CA, August 2007!
For 82 years people have come to the park to enjoy the panoramic views of the ocean, downtown, Mexico and scenic surrounding mountain ranges. This truly is one of the region’s most treasured landmarks. And it is only a ten-minute drive from Interstate 8, twenty minutes from downtown San Diego.
This park and 2,000-seat nature theatre were dedicated in 1925 to the memory of Mary Carpenter Yawkey, whose vision for this land was to embrace the raw emotion of the landscape and provide a place where artists can inspire and people can celebrate in harmony with nature. Adorning the summit of the 1,370 ft. mountain peak is a historical 35-foot-tall white cross, symbolic of the Spanish Christian Explorers who founded the mission settlement that became San Diego. The park is owned by a private secular foundation, made up mostly of the people who live within the surrounding community. It is a place open to all creeds, religions and nations where music and the arts act in concord with the sheer beauty of its breathtaking vistas.
Who I'd like to meet:
The goal of Mt. Helix Productions is to produce world class concerts and entertainment in a beautiful natural setting while helping to preserve a treasured San Diego landmark.
