Welcome! Mountaindawg music is "Heartfelt Rock". Mountaindawg is Joe Johnson. His mission is sharing heartfelt messages of Love, Peace, and Freedom through his own original music. With easily understood lyrics, and all original, melodic Guitar based music, Mountaindawg performs both with a band, or Solo. Lyrics are often about serious subjects, yet the songs are uplifting, addictive and dance-able. Live performances are fun filled and memorable, leaving YOU wanting more. Jamming is this Artists forte', as other musicians have said that Mountaindawg could play with anybody, and compliment their music. Mountaindawg songs have a solid Rock feel, sometimes with a bit of Blues, Folk, Reggae, Pop, or Americana. After years of songwriting, casual performing, recording, and touring, Mountaindawg went International in 2008. Mountaindawg is Joe Johnson. Joe composes the music, and writes the lyrics. He sings, and plays Lead Guitar, Mandolin, Resonator (similar to a Dobro), plus occasionally, plays Keyboards, Drums & percussions. He performs Solo, or as a Trio with various Bass Guitarists, and Drummers. He especially enjoys jamming with other bands and musicians, and often is guest Guitarist for other bands. Musicians that have performed with Mountaindawg include Dickie Peterson on Bass Guitar, Garth O'Brien on Guitar & Drums, Mark Eads on Bass Guitar, Fast Freddie Dean AKA Freddie Araiza on Drums & Percussion, Eric "Erok" Deste on Bass Guitar, Kelly Ann Johnson singing Backup Vocals, Darryl Rivano playing Harmonica & Guitar & singing, Derek Baum on Drums, Lenny "Bam-Bam" Baham on Drums & Percussions, Brian Mavity on Bag Pipes & Flute & Recorder & Accordion, Paul "Papa Umana" Human on Percussions & Guitar & Vocals, Angelina Gargano on Harmonica & vocals & Guitar, Peggy Day on Guitar & Vocals, Dylan Black on Percussion/Hand Drums, Jeff Davis on Guitar & Vocals, Eric LeVin on Guitar & Harmonica & Vocals, Holly Harmon on Harmonica, Bob Gorell aka Bo Gypsy on Guitar, Harmonica, & Vocals, Crisco Janda on Drums, Mark Williams on Bass Guitar, Nathalie Gorell on Keyboards & Vocals, among others. Mountaindawg has also performed with other bands and musicians, including Julie Larson accomplished singer/songwriter, musician, and the awesome force behind the record label at Artmuse Records. Julie has joined Mountaindawg onstage with her Flute and Guitar, in addition to having Mtndawg Joe as her guest Lead Guitar. They have also played together LIVE on Grizzly Radio at the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincey, California. Chris Bramble, popular singer/songwriter Guitarist, and jam band musician. Chris has joined Mtndawg onstage, playing Guitar and sharing some of his own original, beautiful songs, in addition to being a Guest Host at Mtndawgs regular Handmade Music Nights, at the Coffee Bazaar in Guerneville in 2007. NOTE WORTHY FROM MTNDAWGS PAST: Legendary Dickie Peterson, of "Blue Cheer", played Bass Guitar onstage with Mountaindawg, plus Joe played Lead Guitar for a side project with Dickie, Eric LeVin, Derek Baum, and Holly Harmon called "Erics Road Band" in 2005 & 2006.

So many talented musicians... too many to list... But, Mtndawg Joe would say that JERRY has influenced his music AND his head a great deal.
Sounds Like
The best way to desribe Mtndawg's sound is "heartfelt Rock". Mtndawg has an original sound. Classic Guitar Rock edge, with a little Blues, Reggae, Americana, Folk, and some cool Jammin'. FANS SAY Mtndawg music reminds them of : Jack Johnson, Jerry Garcia, Sublime, Carlos Santana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Free, JGB, The Grateful Dead, Kidd Rock, Blue Oyster Cult, Sugar Ray, Everlast, and Creed, among others.
