Every ten or so years an artist or band comes along that is so unique, so fresh and so original sounding that it starts a whole new trend for rest of the music industry to follow. Herrick is one such band. With intricate harmonies and a distinctive sound that combines the best of country, rock and blues, Herrick shatters the current country music mold and creates a new path for it to follow. Full of heartfelt lyrics, their music is dynamic and appealing, yet it is unconstrained by ‘formulas’ for hit songs. It’s real, it’s earthy and it doesn’t pull any punches when it hits you right in the gut.
Geoff Stein and Baub Eis are the primary driving forces
behind this project. Geoff is the song writer and Baub is the producer/
orchestrator/musician finder/guitar player. In the past year Baub has opened up for the
likes of REO Speedwagon, Starship, Willie Nelson, Nitty Gritty Dirt
Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, Jimmy Van Zant Band, Unkle
Kracker, and Air Supply. Geoff and Baub have been working together
over the past 2 years to put this project together.
A name drawn from the historic Arkansas Territory Hanging Judge, "Issac C. Parker". This band is also from the same town of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Years of hard work, dedication and just "Hangin' in There", has made Judge Parker famous again, this time for music. Brothers Larry and Arthur Pearson formed the band with a southern rock, country and blues flair. Staying true to their roots gave them a kind of sound that classic rock and southern rock fans thought was long gone. While on tour in Texas, they met William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys. Golden saw something very special in this Arkansas band that really fired him up. He gave Larry his home number that night and said, "You need to come to Nashville, I beleive in you guys, I love your music and I want to help you". Everything was finally looking up, they were now getting attention from Golden's contacts from Nashville, New York and L.A.
The popularity of Pennywise continued to swell as the 20th Century ended, first with the success of 1999's Straight Ahead, followed by the riotous 2000 concert disc Live at the Key Club and the groups highly praised 2001 disc Land of the Free? An ensuing tour was highlighted by a sell-out gig at the 14,000-seat Long Beach Arena. After taking a year off for introspection, the group reemerged stronger than ever in 2003 as evidenced by the glowing accolades From The Ashes received. In early 2005, as Epitaph reissued remastered, content enhanced versions of the groups first four albums, the band reconvened to craft what would ultimately become The Fuse. After performing the more shows worldwide than they’ve played in recent years to support The Fuse, including a string of sold out House of Blues shows in L.A. and Orange County, the band again headlined the Vans Warped Tour in 2007, an entity they and a handful of other influential artists help turn into the longest running and one of the most successful American Music Festivals. As of now the band is hard at work on their yet to be titled next album, scheduled for a march 2008 release.
The Cotton Soeterboek Band redefines rock and roll for a modern audience. By any standard, The Cotton Soeterboek Band is unique; they take the larger than life mystique of hard rock and modernize it with a driving attack. Few bands sound this powerful or versatile, a combination of English blues rock from the 70's with Southern rock sensibilities.
The bands new album, Twisted, stands out as a modern version of something so familiar and comfortable, yet blistering with heat. It is a successful attempt to come up with an album that forges a visionary blend of hard blues, crushing rock, pastoral folk and post-mod pop. As Alan Cotton says, "We went in and recorded it like they did in the old days. Trying to catch lightning in a bottle, as it were, that magic. It's all about the magic". This album captures the kinetic energy and force of the band's live show and it is proof that The Cotton Soeterboek Band are true originals. A straight ahead, in your face, real rock & roll band.
The
Brunson gang describe themselves as "corporate country"
and are more comfortable being compared to Journey or Def Leopard
(with a little Rascal Flats and Kieth Urban thrown in for seasoning).
Brunson and Co. have toured across the heartland of Anerica, including
highlights at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, the old Mile High Stadium,
Red Rocks, as well as an opening spot for national recording artist
Grectchen Wislon. These boys really know how to rock country and are
well worth giving an honest listen to!
The Mountain Photographer wants to thank everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes. I am blessed and very grateful to have such great friends... Life is Good!!! Posted at 6:00 PM Nov 14 view more
I am a rugged, outdoor type of guy with a soft and tender heart. I am upbeat, outgoing and am almost always smiling. I love to have fun and have been called crazy many times. I am funny and like to make people laugh. I love animals of all kinds. I enjoy all types of music, and am myself a musician. I enjoy life in general. My philosophy is, "Life is meant to be enjoyed." I enjoy everything from hiking in the mountains and walking in the rain, to cooking and cuddling up to watch a good movie. I am kind, caring and compassionate, and I have been blessed with a great deal of intelligence. I believe in honesty, loyalty, respect and commitment. I have been told many times by others that I do not give myself enough credit for the good person that I am, which is why I am putting this personal info on my profile. So I guess modesty is one of my traits too. LOL!!!
As you may have gathered from my page, I am also an avid photographer. You will find my photos throughout this page. My photographs have been featured on postcards, calendars, television, magazines, books and numerous websites. I am very honored and humbled by this recognition of my work.
I have done photography as a hobby for over thirty years and professionally for the past ten years. While my main focus is now in nature and astrophotography, I have also done portraits, weddings and family reunions. In addition, I worked in a custom photo lab for two years learning a wealth about processing, color correction and various lab techniques.
If you would like to see more of my work, and for information on purchasing and/or licensing any of these photos, please visit my main website at: www.darrellespangler.com..
Ok, as several of you have asked, "Why the huge music connection", I will explain. I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old and was a member of several bands over the decades. I played the bar circuit for a few years back in the early 80's with a Chicago area band called, "MAX", and did a small amount of studio work. I also have worked with promoting local bands, benefits and concerts and of course photographing and video taping bands. I am also a huge supporter of Indie music and artists and enjoy helping out in its promotion, whenever and however I can. If you would like to hear some of my original music, visit my MySpace Music Page - Mountain Red.
Well, there ya have it. Thanks for stopping on by! If you have any questions about anything
