    Matt Topps started singing before he started school. He started writing lyrics in fourth grade. Born on May 12, 1980 in Garland, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, he currently resides in Garland, Texas and is a recent graduate of the University of North Texas. As a youth, he listened to anyone from Michael Jackson to Heatwave to Luther Vandross to Patti LaBelle to Babyface to Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson. He is very comfortable performing and singing on the microphone and continues to write hit songs.
