MUEVO BIOGRAPHY
Muevo band, an all-female rock band proudly came from Calinan, Davao City, existed because of their united passion in music.
Originally, they came from an organization of Calinan National High School which was the Glee Sharp Club. Each of them has other band in their school before. Their music adviser, Mr. Acog regroups the members according to gender. Until they developed and “Cycle King” (now Muevo) formed which has only four (4) members: Cybel (drummer), King (Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist), Cleo (bassist), and Cyra (lead guitarist).
“Cycle King” last for almost a year and gained some achievements. Then, came a time when the group decided to join a band competition. At that time, they had just borrowed musical instruments from their co-band member for their practice. They had to beg and it took a lot of time to wait for their turn to have those instruments borrowed.
Meg (Rhythm Guitarist and Back-up vocals), existed when the four beg to borrow her electric guitar and she let them borrowed it and also offer their house to have some practice. Because of a need of rhythm guitarist and as they saw Meg’s potential, without any hesitation, they let her joined the group.
October 28, 2006, the date of the competition. It was their first play on stage and had the name Muevo. That time, their goal was just to play on stage to have some exposure and experience; they did not aim to gain any award. But luckily and unexpectedly, they brought the bacon home as they won as champion. And that was the story behind that success.
Form then on, they were inspired to continue their passion until they bought their own musical instruments come from the proceeds of their gigs, battles and some are from the support of their parents.
Until now, Muevo is fully alive and has one principle that they learned form Back by Midnite (their inspiration and aspiration) which is “Passion before Fashion”. Their goal/aim for their band is to be a popular and inspirational recording artist to everyone, if God’s will… As of now, they are open for any comments and suggestions for what ever purpose that may serve them better.
HISTORY OF THE NAME
Upon their way home from a hard practice, Cybel (drummer) learned new common things in music. She thought that, since they had a new member, and their new member had a new electric guitar and generally, a new group was formed, she asked to her neighbor for the Spanish word of “new”. It was actually “Nuevo” but accidentally heard it as “Muevo”. Since the first letter of the name of the new member is “M”, the group agreed to make it as “MUEVO”.
