My mums 6month old Australian Shepard/Border Collie mix, Colby, ingested a severe toxin. The toxin is suspected to be very strong rat poison that that may have been thrown into or around my mums backyard.
He was immediately taken to Everhart Animal Hospital where they did extensive tests, x-rays, IV therapy, and treatment. After Colby was said to be in renal failure, he was not expected to survive and we were told he had to be transferred to an emergency clinic.
We took him to Baltimore Emergency Vet & Referrel Center where Dr. Walsby told us that he is in critical condition and after discussing treatment options, said that the estimate would most likely range from $1200-2000. We were heart-broken, but we weren't going to give up. With my money, my younger sisters money, grandmothers money, and my mums friends money we were able to put the deposit down for them to start treatment and have him stay as an in-patient at the emergency clinic for a few days.
As of right now we are almost out of funds, we have contacted a few local animal rescues and organizations for donations (which only a few have responded), and he is still in the emergency clinic.
Right now we are trying to gather a list of people willing to donate money, helpful websites, &/or phone numbers to any organization willing to help us pay for his emergency treatment.
