In terms of wrock, I am probably most influenced by the wrock bands that do a lot of cool production on their songs. Most primarily, Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls, Ministry of Magic, Talons and Tea Leaves, and Ginny and the Weasleys UK (for their really cool song "Dumbledore's Army"). Outside of wrock, I'm personally influenced quite a lot by Counting Crows and Tori Amos, but you probably won't hear that in the music because I really can't play nearly as well as them.
Sounds Like
One guy with two guitars -- an electric 6-string and an acoustic-electric 12-string. And kickass production values.
Muggle Studies is a meta-wrock "band" (band is in quotes because, really, it's just one guy, and maybe a friend if he needs call-response singing). What that means is yeah, it's wizard rock, but it's more about the fan culture than the books themselves.
The Muggle Studies professor went to Hogwarts himself, many years ago. The Sorting Hat wanted to put him in Slytherin -- he was ambitious and pragmatic, two of the best qualities of that house -- but because he's not pure-blood, he was instead placed in Ravenclaw. He played on the Quidditch team as a chaser. He was not a prefect, nor Quidditch captain.
After Hogwarts (graduated 1993), the professor went to America to learn about Muggles. He completed a B.A. and M.A. in Muggle Studies, then went to work for America's Department of Magical Affairs, where he was employed during the Second Voldemort War.
After the war, the professor returned to Britain. He worked for the Ministry of Magic for a short while, but moved to Hogwarts when the new Head offered him the Professor of Muggle Studies position.
While employed by Hogwarts, he also completed an Ma.D. in Non-Magical Sciences and wrote two books and several articles on the subject. He spent one year as the Ravenclaw Head-of-House while Professor Flitwick was on sabbatical.
The professor enjoys writing, reading, computers (a muggle device that they use in lieu of libraries), and both films and television (a muggle device that they use in lieu of their brains). His best subjects in school, outside of Muggle Studies, were potions, arithmancy, and transfiguration; he received an E in his DADA OWL but never considered himself very good at it. You can usually find him in his office on the first floor or spending time with Professor Vector, with whom he had a relationship during his years at school.
The professor supports the Pride of Portree Quidditch team.
Let us know if you come around here. We should do some shows together!!! We're only four hours away, so is another Wrock band, the Ladies of Azkaban Swimsuit Calender!! Hit us up sometime!
