Mum Is Trunk vient de Montpellier et frappe fort question Punk-Rock avec ce premier maxi réjouissant à plus d'un point. Dès les premiers accords de "Open Dive" on est agréablement surpris par la qualité et la puissance du son, qui va à ravir à ces huit titres forts en débauche d'énergie. Du Hardcore old-school ultra-speed ("Prime Time", "The Swan"), au punk-rock mid-tempo rentre-dedans ("Open Dive", "Pull Out From The Dick"), Mum Is Trunk semble décliner le mot punk-rock sous ses meilleurs atouts. Vocaux éraillés juste ce qu'il faut, rythmiques tenaces et guitares sachant lâcher les trois accords magiques pour quelques solos plus Rock n'Roll tu meurs, yeah ! On pense parfois au Rancid du dernier album, ou à un Social Distortion sous amphétamine, ou même plus proche de nous aux marseillais trop discrets de Sugarfix. Une énergie débordante et un sens de la composition simple qui tue ! N'en jetez plus, Mum Is trunk est un des meilleurs groupes Punk-Rock du moment en France.

I get a real kick from bands whose second (or third) language is English. Some of their song titles are just hilarious. For example, this eight track CD EP features such side splitters as "Pull Out From The Dick", and "Invincible To Words". Hardy har har. I'm just getting sweet revenge of course. See, in high school we had a mandatory trip to Quebec City where we had to speak exclusively in French, which even though being from Canada, it was a language completely new to me, save the three weeks of lessons I had earlier. I am sure when I ordered a plate of fries and a coke in the worst french possible, my waiter probably heard me request that I wanted to floss my ass with his moustache judging from the look on his face. Anyhow, this is a CD review, right? When France's Mum Is Trunk's (snicker, snicker...) first track was over I was ready to write them off as another Rancid clone, but as the CD played on, the band gained their own identity with their take of Street Punk, bordering on Hardcore Punk, complete with tasteful guitar solos and a dash of rock and roll. The two back-to-back tracks "F.A.T.C." and "The Swan" makes me think there is a Discharge fan in the band somewhere. Whew! A very solid release for anyone into any style of Punk. Desde Montpellier llega el debut de este grupo que llevan tocando desde el año 1996, influenciados por bandas como Suicidal Tendencies, The Clash, Suicide Machines, Operation Ivy... Punk-Rock energético y rápido. En el disco nos encontramos con 8 temas, cerca de 20 minutos, con títulos como: "Open Dive", "Invicible To Words", "Pull Out From The Dick" o "Survive Instead of Living"... Pura adrenalina guitarrera, con estribillos agresivos y mala baba, que en ningún momento bajan la calidad. Aconsejable si quieres descubrir un nuevo grupo con sensaciones de antaño.

Simon (vox) also slays the mic in the Hip-Hop combo Oghan All Starz, Alex (drums) makes the beat goes on with Leptik Ficus, Mike (guitar) kicks some asses with the hardcore band Illegal Process and Charlie (bass) lives a happy healthy farm life on the country side.

Originaires de Montpellier Mum Is Trunk existe depuis 1996, quelques disques sont sortis : « Prime Time » en 2002 sur le faux label Montpellier International Trash, « Soul Starvation » en 2003 sur Dialektik Rds et une compilation « Propaganda Positiva » regroupant les 2 premiers albums + un bonus de saison sur le label madrilène Potencial Hardcore.
Punk aux relents Hardcore, Rock n' Roll sauvage rapide, le groupe stoppe toute activité à partir de 2003 pour se remettre à gesticuler en 2006.
Pendant ce temps Simon (chant) officie dans le combo Hip-Hop parisien Oghan All Starz, Alex (batterie) traîne sur les routes de France avec Leptik Ficus, Mike (guitare) monte Illegal Process, et Charlie (basse) fait du stop... Aujourd'hui le groupe se remet tranquillement de ses courbatures.
