After two years, it's time for a bio change, don't you think?
THINGS I HAVE TO SAY
1. I wish I hadn't taken a 'band' page for my music-themed website/blog/whatnot. I'm not a band, nor am I a label. I'm not Joe Butcher, either.
2. My website is Press Play and Record. Mundane Sounds hasn't been active since 2006. Please, get it right.
3. Press Play and Record is a solo thing. There are no other writers involved, thank goodness. I got tired of dealing with users and people who stopped being what I tangentally call a 'friend' the day their promos and guestlists stopped. If anyone says they write for me, they are LYING, and you shouldn't give them anything.
4. I update as regularly as my time allows. I've had cancer bouts and heavy travel duties with my job, plus other things that are not really your concern. I do the best I can.
5. Bands: Add me if you will but please be advised I really won't respond to requests to 'check out' your songs. I simply don't have the time, and, sadly, it's awkward to hear utterly crap music from someone you've added as a 'friend.' Also, my actual friend to 'friend' ratio here is 10:1. Do the math.
6. I'm kind of a simple guy, with simple tastes and a writing style that some don't like. If I like something, I like something, and I don't like to use pretentious language to get the point across. Thus, William Basinski "rocks."
7. I like a quiet night, quiet music, and stargazing. Music that goes along with such an environment will make me happy. I live in the country in east Texas. Why wouldn't I like that? There's nothing more beautiful than sitting outside, gazing at the stars, listening to OK Computer or Grandaddy or anything else beautiful, and sitting by the girl ya love, ya know?
8. I'm not interested in your political affiliations, mine are not up for debate, and I don't want to hear about yours. Don't try to convert me, I will not be swayed.
9. I'm rarely on Myspace. I do have a full time job and responsibilities. Plus, they block it at work. Communication with me through this means will be strained, to say the least.
10. Want me to like your record? What are you gonna do for me? I'll tell you. I like barbecue. There's this great restaurant called Barnhill's. It's a buffet. The food is superb. It's good eatin'. You come down to Nacogdoches, Texas, you buy me lunch, and we'll see.
11. My favorite drink is Southern Comfort and Orange Nehi. It's wonderful.
12. Nacogdoches is my 'home' now. Second "home" is Jefferson. I'm on the road a lot. There are very beautiful women in Nacogdoches, I must say.
13. If you happen to have a high school English teaching job vacancy in Texas, I'd be happy to talk to you further. I'd also be willing to talk about freelance writing, but we have to negotiate. I'm excellent, if I may.
14. I like you!
