The world-pop duo MundoTribe is comprised of two artists who connect through their character differences. One is always late; the other always early. One is a full blooded Texan with an obsession for world percussion & ethnic instrumentation; the other one, a bit of a cultural mess, was born in L.A., but grew up on the other side of the Atlantic between Madrid and London. Characteristics of their makings go as wide as the flavors of their talents. By hearing their music, this becomes very apparent.
Co-founders Ben “Big B.” Whittier & Mad Man Mr. Hand began MundoTribe practically out of their back pockets with too many ideas & not enough hands with which to develop them. As both a professional partnership and a personal friendship, they showed the world and everyone around that despite these limitations they could carve out their own musical niche. This is the inspiration for their global musical project.
Ben “Big B.” Whittier, having extensive experience in the entertainment industry, birthed the vision of MundoTribe from a small studio space in the corner of his own home. Self-taught in the industry as musician, vocalist and television host in Europe for most of his life, Ben layered the foregrounds & foundation for the project. As producer, writer, composer & singer/performer, he formulated the better half of the brain trust that would become MundoTribe.
He got a major surprise, however, when a big Texan showed up at his doorstep having answered a musicians-wanted ad from an internet web posting. Mr. Hand revealed himself to be nothing short of a valuable role model and asset to the ideas that Ben himself had carried, upon introducing his passions for world music and his angry arsenal of ethnic instruments. Being personified as a philosophical madman, Mr. Hand took great pleasure in sharing his wide array of ethnic influences with Ben- hence opening the doors for the creation, personification, and brand naming of MundoTribe. And I can tell you now- capturing his “good ol’ boy” personality is NOT an easy task!
As for the messages carried within their music, they express a sense of “oneness” in the world. Peace, love, and the desire for social understanding and tolerance are entwined in the layers of their melodies and lyrics. As well, their music fluctuates within multiple boundaries that practically any “body” can enjoy. Both worldly & modern, MundoTribe’s sound is infused with funk, urban grooves, soul ballads, reggae, Middle Eastern hues, Latin flavor, and drum-driven tribal rhythms, all tied together with Ben’s unique and soulful voice, and Mr. Hand’s intense multi-instrumental sensitivity.
The fruits of MundoTribe are very sweet, indeed. As a writer having experienced them first-hand, I highly recommend you take an online journey to MundoTribe.com & visit the foundation for a cultural initiative breaking loose in the world, as we speak. This is one growing experience you won’t want to miss out on!
And would you like MundoTribe to perform for you, your venue, or a venue that you know of? Feel free to reach the co-founders of the organization, Ben “Big B.” Whittier or Mr. Hand, via The Official MundoTribe Website to inquire about performance availability. The party begins with MundoTribe, a unique musical experience, so don’t hesitate!
