Mungus is a progressive rock four-piece that heralds from Louisville, KY. Classically trained vocalist Adam Lamb and guitarist Stephen Phillips were joined in the fall of 2006 by bassist G. Benjamin Ensor, also classically trained. In 2008 the band found the powerhouse drummer they had been searching for in Ricky Muzick, an award winning artist from Ohio.
Their music has been compared most frequently to the bands Tool, A Perfect Circle, Muse, and even Primus. Though relatively new to the local music scene, Mungus was chosen by Godsmack to open their sold-out show at the Louisville Palace on Derby Eve 2007, rocking a full house of 2700 fans, and on September 9th of that same year were asked to play Boston's internationally acclaimed Locobazooka Festival. On that date Mungus played alongside such rock and metal heavyweights as Queensryche, Alice Cooper, and a Ronnie James Dio helmed Black Sabbath (aka Heaven & Hell).
Mungus' first EP entitled, "To Be A Man..." was released on iTunes and Napster in June of 2007. Their first album "Liminal" will be released in May 2009, though they are currently unsigned.
In April 2009 Mungus became one of the numerous bands to be promoted by Tinderbox Music (tinderboxmusic.com).
