Saturday July 29th, 2006 we lost a soldier and Murda One Family Member. Please saya prayer for him and his family.
Mr. Marley was shot and killed in front of his twin sister early Saturday during an apparent robbery after three men approached them as they sat in a car in front of their Pine Hills home.
Jamaal Williams, 22, was outside his home on Piney Ridge Drive after night clubbing when the suspects arrived wielding a gun shortly before 6 a.m.
"The boys just came up out of nowhere," said Santana Murphy, 21, who was in the passenger's seat next to Jessica Williams.
The brother and sister were "rapping" when a man poked his gun through the driver's half-open window, Murphy said. The gunman and his two companions had black shirts wrapped around their mouths as masks.
"He put the gun in the car and Jess pushed it out of the way; I'm guessing she thought it was one of her friends playing a joke on her," Murphy said. "She turned around and looked at me and she was like 'Oh God.' "
The man ordered Jessica Williams out of the car and onto the ground, Murphy said. She and Jamaal Williams went to the back of the car, where the gunman asked Jamaal Williams if he had anything in his pockets.
He threw $11 on the car trunk and began fighting back, Murphy said.
"He swung at the boy with the gun," she said. "He thought about it. At first he was punching, then he was trying to grab the gun -- slapping it out of the way, and the shots was just firing."
That was the last thing she saw before she ran to a nearby home to ask for help.
"I don't know what they were thinking when they did that," she said. "It's done and over with, and I still can't believe it."
Jessica Williams, 22, was shot a few times in the leg, said her mother, Leonie Chandersingh, 46, who lives in the house with her children. Jessica arrived home from the hospital about noon Saturday, bandaged and medicated.
"It was crazy, it was sudden," she said. "My brother just tried to protect me."
Chandersingh said she thought her daughter might have been shot while her son was batting at the gun.
"My son is a good boy," she said.
Jamaal Williams worked as a disc jockey two nights a week at Cairo, a club in downtown Orlando, Chandersingh said. Murphy said she and Jessica Williams went to see him at the club until about 3 a.m., when they went to another club that didn't close until 5 a.m.
"Maybe they were thinking he made a ton of money," Chandersingh said of the robbers. "It's not abnormal for him to sit outside."
She said Jamaal Williams, who has a 19-month-old son, graduated from technical school, worked regularly and had recently opened a bank account.
"When you see your kids get to that stage, you know they're on their way and you did something right," she said. "He did not deserve this. This is senseless."
Jamaal and his sister were very close, family members said.
"[Jessica] didn't take it good," Chandersingh said. "They're twins; they got this relationship I've never been a part of. She's very broken."
