When Murder No Motive began in 2004, the metal scene was controlled by pretty voices and male counterparts in makeup that appeared to spend more time crying over fabricated dejection then they did playing the guitar. Feeling completely uninspired by the new direction metal was taking; Patrick Dooley decided to form a band that would relive the glory days of the guitar riff. Inspired by the metal gods of the late eighties and early nineties, the band began to perfect a sound that would combine thrash metal with their southern roots. By 2005 Murder No Motive where a self produced movement exalted for being loud, fast, and angry. After self-releasing their first full length album (Lessons in Aggression), Murder No Motive left their hometown and began traveling the country opening up for national acts such as The Autumn Offering, Hell Within, Caliban, Arsis, Sworn Enemy, ABACABB, Skeleton Witch, Dead to Fall, Dying Fetus, Origin, Halo of Locusts, Ion Dissonance, This Moment, Thy Will Be Done, and Run before attaining an opening spot on a national tour with Metal Blade Recording artists, Forever in Terror. Lessons in Aggression is a fresh, provocative, and capricious album that relentlessly delivers a wide variety of blistering riffs from start to finish; a welcomed change to the metal scene from a new and up-and-coming band.
Lessons in Aggression caught the attention of people nation wide and quickly allowed the band to build a legion of loyal follower’s egger to cram themselves into any venue the band was scheduled to play. Riding the current underground buzz of the bands success, Murder No Motive reentered the studio in 2007 egger to begin work on their second album which is expected to be released in March of 2008.
