The album Murphy Lane has it's roots back in '05, with the very unlikey yet extremely creative pairing of Jeff Lane and I. Got together musically by chance upon becoming aware that we shared similar appreciations and ideas when
it came to producing music of a timeless quality.
Our collaboration produced original songs whose history could be traced through a legacy of musical genres: American roots music with its haunting
country blues of the Deep South; the down-home stomp from the rolling Appalachia hills; soundscapes of the Wild Western plains and canyons; the fairytale
folk of mystical English and Irish traditional music as well as poignant, heartfelt piano ballads.
The fruits of this collaboration came in 2007 with the release of
'Murphy Lane', a 13-track album featuring some of Cork's finest tradtional and classical musicians. I produced the record, assembling a talented group of musicians for sessions at Monorail Studio in Co. Tipperary, providing a versatile, dynamic sound of light and shade, with the capabilities of exploring,
capturing and reproducing the essence and truth of our songs.

To promote the record, the full band performed some shows in Ireland which included appearances at Indie-Pendence 2006 & 2007. I also undertook a 13-date solo acoustic tour of the US in 2007.

True Delusion
------------
True Delusion began in 2005 with four young men and a heady mix of influences. Big riffs, raw electric guitars and dark, gritty stories of both life and
death told through Chris Noonan's songs. Falling somewhere between rock, old blues and classic Irish folk, this band have always strived and sought new
directions, challenging ourselves to produce truthful rock'n'roll. True Delusion recorded EP's in 2004 and 2006 at Poppyhill Studios, Co Kildare.
With a huge catalog of completed songs, and many gigs under our belts we recorded their first longplayer in 2008 at Claycastle Studio, Youghal, Co
Cork with the album 'True Delusion'.
Chris Noonan ~~ Vocals, Guitars
David Murphy ~~ Guitars, Vocals, Keys, Mandolin
Damian Byrne ~~ Bass
Mike Byrne ~~ Drums, Vocals
Seamus Hennessy - aka Monorail - has featured in various guises over the years. The Tipperary songwriter/producer/engineer and I firstly teamed up in 2007 to record the album 'Murphy Lane'. Seamus then became part of the Murphy Lane band for some performances to promote the record.
In May 2008, Seamus and I joined forces as Monorail and in our first year, we have gone on to perform over 50 shows all around Ireland.
Performing a mix of Monorail originals and the songs from the Murphy Lane record, we've toured with Gemma Hayes, opened for Jack L, Johnny Fean of Horslips as well as making appearances at the Indie-Pendence and Clonmel Junction festivals.
The first Monorail record is currently in the works, and is due to be released later in 2009, is aided with the addition of Don Rothwell on Bass and David Tate on Drums.

Balcony TV performance Feb 2008 - David & Seamus performing an acoustic version of latest single 'Strange Night'...
Excuse this out of the blue comment and yes it’s one of those ‘all about us’ ones, but just wanted to let you know, we’re having our EP launch tomorrow (Friday 16th Oct) at the Crane Lane theatre here in Cork. It’s free to everyone and be great if you’re around!
Its been a while and we thought it was about time we updated you on what we've been up to. Our debut EP Little World is now available at our gigs and will soon be available from our myspace and facebook pages, you will also be able to download it from itunes, but we don't have a release date for this as yet.
To celebrate the fact that we have now reached 25,000 plays on myspace, we are giving you a free MP3 of Rockabye Baby. All you have to do is send your email address to queen.elvis@yahoo.ie and we will send it to you.
We have spent the last year rehearsing with a full band and are now ready to bring it on the road. You can get a look at us when we appear on Balcony TV this week with the full line up. We are currently taking bookings for gigs/concerts/festivals and can be contacted on the email above, or through our myspace and facebook pages.
Thankyou for your continued support in what has been a great year for us!
Hey Dave, thanks for the request.Sorry I missed the end of your show that night in Ballycotton, but I got sick :-( Reading Andreas's comment I realised that I should really sort out my CD player in the car.....(I'm useless when it comes to technic...) Hope you're well.Any plans for the winter? Nico
This month we mostly have Catie Curtis (with a Richard Thompson cover), Lindsay Fuller and The Cheap Dates (and who amongst us isn't?), Josh Fix with a track from the well-titled album This Town Is Starting To Make Me Angry and the rather lovely Red Rooster.
Lovely to meet you in the fabled Ballycotton and share an evening at The Blackbird. I was SO sparked with your folks' (yet unnamed) sound. Looking forward to giving your disc a listen. Til now I could just removed the wrap and read you, as the car-ride back to Doolin was without discy-playing-technology. Back in Basel now: suitcase unpacked, fridge re-packed, laundry waiting for a bath. Eating the Tuc crackers purchased in Ballycotton, so a little bit of Ireland still with me - salted. Yum. Greetings from a Switzerland turning to Autumn. Warmth, Andrea
Yeah, that was a nice evening down in Ballycotton! We finally made it back home after a looooong trip (Doolin, Balla, Galway, Dublin, Zurich, Basel), and I already miss Ireland.
I have to comment this to every one of my 800 or so friends on myspace - its going to take ages , I am only on D now ! Later hope all is well and your playing music as usual was just saying to Chris i listened to the album yesterday another time - Its brilliant really(I have all 10 studio albums of Led Zeppelin I know good tunes) ,it is a crime its not being played on the radio every day - I like your new shirts hope they sell!
MYSTERY GUEST STARS lift the veil of secrecy with a FREE GIG this Saturday July 4th in The Courtyard (near Cubin's, Hanover St. Cork) at 9pm. Also playing are THE PEOPLE. It's shaping up to be a good one and it would be great to see you there.
Hi David Murphy, I Draw Slow are playing The Cobblestone, Smithfield in Dublin on Wednesday 24th June, supported by the amazing Thomas Kitt. Doors are at 8.30 and admission is €10, a small price to pay to see the citys two premier acoustic acts don't you agree? On the off chance you disagree, come down on wednesday next to the Cobblestone, Smithfield Dublin and we'd be happy to discuss it.
