This is country that is straight (with no chaser). It doesn't want to be polished as that might detract from its honesty, and Down this Road would end up sounding like a lot of slick but faceless modern country. Writer Trevor Murray lays out his sympathies clearly and as "Billy McKay" shows, he can tell a story well.

Countryrockers, even uw aandacht ! Hebt u al ooit gehoord van de Canadese Murray Band? Neen? Dan zou u daar wat moeten aan doen want u mist namelijk iets. Dit uit British Columbia afkomstige viertal, genoemd naar leadzanger en songschrijver Trevor Murray, maken zo’n aanstekelijke Saturday Night Country Roots Rock’n’Roll dat deze muziek u onmogelijk onberoerd kan laten. De debuutplaat waar het hier om gaat heet toepasselijk ‘Down The Road’ en dat zal ook de plaats zijn waar u dit plaatje het liefst wil consumeren, met -uiteraard- de volumknop flink naar rechts gedraaid. Wanneer u de opener ‘Fireball Whiskey’ hoort, zult u meteen al goedkeurend knikken want deze band heeft het gewoon: fijne lead vocals met een vettig accentje, een lekker solide ritmesectie, een koppel twangy gitaren met daarover tenslotte nog een sausje van smaakvolle lap steel. Wat wilt u nog meer? Het tweede nummer misschien; ‘Speeds Up Just To Slow Down’, dat zondermeer een radiohit hoort te zijn, maar het helaas (nog) niet is. Programmamakers waar wacht u nog op? U zult verder ook merken dat Murray Band af en toe wat gas terugneemt in ballads als ‘Just Ain’t Another Love Song’ of ‘Run Out’. Maar even later rollen the good times weer onverminderd verder in songs als ‘Better By The Beer’. Santé alvast! Misschien heeft u nu wel zin in een ‘Road Trip Heaven’ waarin snelheidslimieten overtreden worden alsof het de E40 was? Gewoon even opletten dat u de gevaarlijke ‘Billy McKay’ niet voor de voeten loopt. Daarna trekt u gewoon weer de hort op met de prima titelsong ‘Down This Road’. Afsluiten doet u natuurlijk in schoonheid met de onweerstaanbare combinatie ‘Taquitos And Wine’. Een smakelijk slot van een hell of a roadtrip in de rootsy rock’n’roll country. Hebt u uw veiligheidsgordel al aan? (Shake)

This raw original country band, lead by singer/songwriter Trevor Murray, is just coming onto the scene. With a diverse musical background, this Country group has come together to deliver a mix of heartbreak ballads and “kick up your heels” party time Saturday night country roots rock n roll.
Based out of White Rock/Langley, BC Canada, each member of the band contributes something very unique to the overall sound of the band.
Trevor Murray has been writing and singing as long as he can remember but it was always behind the scenes. It took a little pushing, but now he’s doing what he loves.
Jimmy grew up playing rockabilly guitar in Winnipeg bands, and now stepped up and plays bass and contributes sweet harmonies to the overall mix.
Johnny is lead guitar player for the band, and he brings a real bluesy, eastern Canada style guitar sound to the band.
Noel does it all. He’s on the drums, the keyboards, harmony vocals, and even the train whistle from time to time.
Together the Murray Band is just releasing their debut album, Down this Road. It was recorded on Analog at Turtle Recording Studios in White Rock BC, with help from good people like Larry Anschell, Keith Stein, and Craig Waddell.
With a real unique country sound, and no end to original songs, the Murray Band is here to stay.
