Here are photos from the Marathon recording sessions at Murray Music
I'm currently playing with the Michael Cross band. We're writing and recording new tunes and have a great vibe going.
I just produced a Michael Cross record, "Blues Lovin' Man". The songs are all original, co-written by myself, Mike and several others. Great stuff! It will be available soon.
Influences
Johnny Mathis (yes!), Hendrix, SRV (a great friend and mentor many years ago), JLV, Denny Freeman, Brent Wilson, E.J., David Wilcox, B.B., Freddy, the Alberts.
Sounds Like
The mood that I'm in on any given night. Hopefully sounding in tune, in time and inspired!
Lived in Austin since 1968. Played guitar/recorded or traveled with Marcia Ball, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton, Doyle Bramhall, Kelly Willis, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Monte Warden, Sara Hamman, Malford Milligan, Jimmy Lafave, Chaparral to name too many!
I have a studio in downtown Austin where I compose music for documentaries, advertising and multi-media. I also do audio mixes/SFX/VO on documentaries, "Cotton fields and Crossroads", the story of Los Lonely Boys, "The Overlooked Suspect" by private detective William C. Dear and most recently "Ya Basta", by director Ricardo Ainslie which just premiered at SXSW March 14, 2007.
VOTE DALE WATSON and JOHNNY KNOXVILLE for the CMT Music Awards!!!
DALE WATSON - "Hollywood Hillbilly" (Music Video) Directed by and Starring: Johnny Knoxville We've got some good news! Dale Watson's video for "Hollywood Hillbilly" starring and directed by Johnny Knoxville, has been nominated by the CMT Music Awards for "Comedy Video of the Year."
Also, his music video for "Justice For All" has been nominated for "Supporting Character of the Year" thanks to the role played by James Denton (who many of you know and love from Desperate Housewives).
David "Guitar" Murray & Mike Cross "unplugged" at the Austin City Council Chambers playing "Blues Lovin' Man". Sorry I missed it live. Nice song fellows!
Thank you for the times you let me come up on stage at The Broken Spoke, it was nice of you to give me a chance to play, and get more experience with a band behind me.
David - I think I told you that my husband (CJ) has a band and is a semi-finalist in a national competition for songwriters/performers. They are the ONLY Texas band still in the mix. The top 4 bands will advance to the finals tomorrow. He is currently tied for 4th - ack! If you have a second today, please take a second to go the the link below and vote for him. Listen to the song too, he's a great guitar player and the words are funny if you listen all the way thru. :) They make you register to vote but it only takes a second. http://defendthebarband.com/vote_login.aspx?BandID=50&Img=Scarsboy-pic_l.jpg&BName=Scarsboy
ps - His band is called Scarsboy because his father's nickname was Scar... so he is Scar's Boy... OK, that's all... Thanks!
Just listened to "Be Strong" for the first time in a while. What a beautiful song! I'm sorry it is so timely. Maybe with any luck it will be a "period piece" soon! Keep making music...pray for peace!
Hello my sweet friend. I miss you. Time to come home to Austin and sing for you again. Hearing "Blues Loving Man" again made me cry. We did that one right.
