James, Greg and Ken blend shards of folk, blues, rock and a shred of country into their own sound. It’s part Up North and backwoods, part heartland and ghost town, part city streets and urban grit. The result is a minimalistic acoustic sound. Dynamics remain, but without the volume.
The lyrics of Murrow’s Boys plunge into society, exposing its foibles, quirks and quandaries, showing exactly how it affects just plain folks. They pack
listeners in an old Ford and trek along Michigan’s forgotten roads and well-traveled highways, through the unforgiving city and sleepy jerkwater towns, and into the lives of men and women who struggle to make sense of life as they know it. And lucky for the passengers along for the ride, Murrow’s Boys don’t need a map – even when entering parts unknown.
Hello. For our final update of 2008 we have a track from the wonderful Todd Snider, classic sounds from The Snakes, the spellbinding voice of Kate Campbell, the atmospheric Iguanas and some leftfield rock'n'roll from Slithering Beast. Merry Christmas/Solstice/whatever and a Happy New Year!
Yes, it's that time of the month again when your listening pleasure can be enhanced by heading off to the AUK Myspace site where you will find folk whimsy from The Travelling Band, poignant thoughfulness from Waylon Jennings, The Butless Chaps (don't you just want to know what they sound like?) and the sweetly swinging (and singing) Tish Hinojosa.
thanks for the add! i know there is quite a few of them out there, but soon I will include video, and other pictures and history about Hamtramck, thanks again for the add
