This is Mursel Isik. I was born in Ankara-Turkey in 1975.
I am a singer/songwriter living in beautiful Istanbul.
I was graduated from the School of Architecture of I.T.U (Istanbul Technical University) in 1998.
I have spent my university years while having T-ruler on my one hand and my guitar on my other hand, and of course drawing projects.
I keep this habit nowadays as well.
My first step to the professional music career was my rock album, "gun aksamlidir(=The Day is with night) in 2000.
I have been referred in the book, which documents Turkish Rock named “Turk Rock", by Guven Erkil Erkan and Deniz Durukan.
Then My second album, "Non Dolet, Dieu Merci...", which was like a message from me stating, "I am here and continuing", released in 2003.
After a 5 year period, I released my 3rd and the last album, “Ask Neydi ki?” (What was love?)NEW ALBUME/2008.
After a long period of hard work for the album, I tried to show my passion of music and the states of love with the question, What was love?. The album consists of 14 songs. I also showed my lyric writing skills besides singing and composing on the album.
When we look at the general concept of the album, It is “love”, but besides changing theme of each song corresponding to different states of love, I tried to show the states of love with different styles, musically. For Example, I tried to combine the feelings from poems from different poets; “Herkes Gibisin” by Nazim Hikmet , “Vurdun Kanima Girdin Itirazim Var(=Emparyal Hotel)”, by Attila Ilhan, “Grili Cocuk(=Kid in gray)” by Hüsrev Hatemi with Rock-Pop concept.
Nazim Hikmet says, “I have just thought with my heart, Now I believe you are like everyone else”, and Attila Ilhan says, “I have never seen such a thing before, You hit me, and entered my blood. I object” and Husrev Hatemi continues, “We used to believe in love but how forlorn hope it was. Love is just from the old times. While lots of people waiting for it, hearts had beaten for nothing, wasting lifes”
While I used hard-rock concept on the song, “Aska sevdalanma”, which is a work of Fuzuli, there is some Bob Dylan on the songs, basically from Mevlana and Yunus Emre. Of course while in the music strongly affected by these poets, I have been included in the states of love with my lyrics.
I purely, tried to express my self in the song named, “Uc adam uç ask uç aci(=Three Man, Three Love, Three Cry)”, with my guitar and pessimist, melancholic and viciously circular definition of love is combined with my guitar’s tunes in the song named, “ben öldüm çoktan sevgilim göm beni”. I created a happy song, named, “sen ve ben(=You and I)” in pop-rock concept. The richness of the lyrics requires the richness on music as well, so the musical concept changes from blues to country and from country to jazz, for each song.
The song, “Earth is mine, sky is mine, heavens are mine”, which is actually a poem by yunus emre, translated to English Prof. Dr. Talat Sait Halman has been played in different radio stations in the US and the UK and hence attracted people and their supporting comments, and It helped me to meet with some important people.
The first video of album is for the slow song “Don’t be sad”, which I wrote lyrics at my 20s, is the 3rd song of the album. The fluent music and simple lyrics helped this song to come into prominence. Especially this song’s electro-guitar solo appearing at last 1,5 minutes is the auditorial surprise of the album.

Thank you for the gift of your friendship and music.
As Christmas approaches I would like to wish you and your family a very special Festive celebration.
"Beautiful is the moment in which we understand that we are no more than an instrument of God; we live only as long as God wants us to live; we can do only as much as God makes us able to; we are only as intelligent as God would have us be." Archbishop Oscar Romero, from his last homily, March 23, 1980.
I hope you like my Christmas card and poem and additional card / pictures. May your love “glow.”

“Candle in the window.”
“A light as pure as an Angels Glow A gentle breeze sparks a flickering light to Heavens Path. Through the open window flies a brown majestic Moth He dances round the table cloth Fluttering flirtatiously enticed to the flame Like water to a cloud and flowers in the rain.
An aura of starlight Glowing embers of radiance so clear You take away the darkness The hopelessness, the fear.
Calming, graceful, romancing, dancing on the window sill A light for my memories Inspiration for my dreams A candle by the open window God Bless the Grace you give me A moment so serene.”
