About me: M2DT established since 2005 has grown with popularity among audiences of dancers, musicians, and patrons. We have secured 5 full company members and 18 collective members over the last year and half.
M2DT has collaborated with musicians from the Fort Worth Symphony and is continuing to build a relationship with local emerging contemporary musicians. In addition, we have begun outreach teaching in local high schools as well as setting choreography within the community colleges of Dallas/Fort Worth/and Plano Counties of Texas over this past year. Muscle Memory Dance Theatre's dance works have been commissioned for Texas Womans' University, Stephen F. Austin University, Oklahoma Central University, and in October of 2008 Texas Tech University.
While M2DT has performed locally in the DFW metropolis, we have extended our scope of landscape over the past three years to include venues in Chicago, Oklahoma City, New York City, Monterey(CA), Cincinnati and will return to NYC in September of 2008. Over the last 2 years M2DT has commissioned two works from emerging choreographers, Michelle Dexter of Perpetual Motion (OK) and Eric Salisbury, a free-lance choreographer residing in Madison, WI.
In February of 2008, M2DT launched “PILOT”, the first of our annual emerging choreographer showcase which included artists from Houston to Pittsburgh.
March of 2008 brought us a great honor as M2DT took part in the unveiling of nationally recognized artist Frederick Hart. The first unveiling of Hart's “Ex Nihilo” took place in November 2007 and we were commissioned to return to the Southwest Gallery {Dallas,TX} for the second unveiling of Hart's “Awakening Suite.”
In March and April of 2008, we produced two of our own company choreographers during the Out of the Loop Festival, Addison-TX and the Dallas Fringe Festival. And in August 2008, we hosted our 3rd summer workshop series.
Over the past three years our achievements have established M2DT as an artistic attribute to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We look forward to the continuing growth of dance artists within reach and bridging with artists nationally and internationally.
