HEY MUSE! Something to do after rehearsal tonight : )

    **********

    Hey there Hipsters! What's shakin?

Our hips are. That's right. And so will your drinks, as UHR performs ON STAGE and behind THE BAR of THE NICK.

ULTRA HIP REVUE TAKES ON GUEST BARTENDER NIGHT AT THE NICK.

    -$5 jager bombs
-$5 UHR special: "velvet kilt" - It's the tincture that helps our mad dance skills
-LIVE PERFORMANCES - foursome, trio, duets, and maybe a solo or two. Fast and saucy, slow and slinky. (Close your mouth, dear).

-NO COVER - But you better bring your tip money. We've got four hot ladies flanking the Red Elvis tonight, and tip baskets for after they burn up the stage.

    Don't worry, though. It'll be so fun....you won't feel a thing ; )

    See you tonight!! (8ish)

    Love, Rock & Shimmies,
    ~UHR~

3719 3rd Ave South (Bottletree Cafe)

    A Birmingham SHOUT Fundraiser

Set in an all-male school, the story follows Timothy who suffers the wrath of his homophobic classmates. He withdraws into his imagination where macho rugby players morph into dancing fairies decked in go-go boy attire. When asked to star in the school play he first balks at acting. As Timothy eventually embraces the mischievous character of Puck, he finds the secret to a magical pansy that seems to turn people gay! He then puckishly imposes a new reality by turning much of his narrow-minded town gay, beginning with the rugby-jock of his dreams.

    One Night Only
    limited seating available
$10 advance, $12 day of event
Students and SHOUT members are always $7

This a message for all the movers and shakers who like to get a shimmy on!

*The final class of the most recent Level 1 Session has come to an end. Congratulations to all the wonderful ladies who stuck with it. And kudos to those who smiled and shimmied all the way, even through the moving "pop" quiz Ms. Baker dished out last minute. You are AMAZING! We can't wait to see you again, and hopefully some new faces, when classes resume with a new session on October 16th.

*If you don't know how to survive the break, no worries. The Ultra Hip Revue's shimmy girls have been sweatin' away more than you know, and the fabulous drummers of Karachi Rocket have been polishing off some great new rythms... all to pave the way for some stellar performances.
So bring a friend, bring your zaghareets (or your "whoop- whoop") and join the party:

    October 5th (Sunday) - 2:30 p.m.
BREAK'N BREAD @ Pepper Place (Bhm)

October 24th - 26th (Fri-Sun) with Nag Hammadi and Karachi Rocket @ VOODOO Fest (New Orleans)

November 2nd (Sunday) Day of the Dead @ Greencup Books next to Bare Hands Gallery (Birmingham)

    AND

    This Fall...

TBA Venus & Bacchus presents (Bham) (don't miss their October 11th, Sleep When Your Dead production)

TBA special super duper sexy performance @ Greencup (Bham)

TBA UHR "Belly up to the Bar" at the METRO BISTRO (Bham)

    This Winter...

TBA "UHR Presents - Get your Shimmy on" (Bham)

TBA UHR with Nag Hammadi - (Bham)

    See you there!

    Carver Theater - 1631 4th Ave North

    Downtown Birmingham

Drama and divas and duct tape, oh my! Welcome to the world of Pageant, the exhilarating backstage documentary about the 34th Miss Gay America Pageant. Greeted by standing ovations at film festivals across the country (and winner of the coveted “Audience Award” in San Francisco, Miami and New York), Pageant follows five men as they compete to be Miss Gay America. As we get to know these men and their supportive families and friends, we come to appreciate the hard work and sacrifice that it takes to be one of the most fabulous female impersonators in the nation. Before long, the suspense, sparkle and surprise of the actual competition take over as we anxiously anticipate whose wig might finally cradle the tiara. Yet, amidst the astounding production numbers, astonishing physical transformations and antic costume changes, Pageant remains a simple, inspirational story of the beauty realized while pursuing one’s dreams.
