Curator Jon Mueller continuously researches beards in development and the personalities associated with them. Recently, during a short visit to Philadelphia, he found himself in a situation where he had access to a lock of George Washington's hair. Had it been beard hair, Mueller comments, "I'm no criminal, but the temptation to take it would have been nearly unbearable." Mueller's ethics coincide with his model for the museum: he will only accept beards from people whom he knows, and beards only.

well, when I was a young man, a beard was a guy who went out with you and your mistress and pretended he was her beaux and made it look like you were just a nice old guy who payed the bills. Of course, sometimes the beard would actually be sleeping with her too but... ahhh, those were the days!
my mom says if i grow a beard i'm out of the house. i really want to contribute, but i'm a poor, jaded musician and i can't function on my own. any ideas?
I'm curious... is a dry shave required
to make a donation, or are the beards
rinsed and dried after being shaven off
the donor? I remember this being
discussed years ago, but I've forgotten
the details.
