Information for Musicians Appearing on Musical Café
*The Format:*
· Musical Café is a LIVE TV show, airing at 7PM every other Tuesday. A recording of each live show is rebroadcast during the next 2 weeks after the LIVE show, on Cox Cable Channel 17, available to 68,000 cable subscribers (exposure!). A two-week schedule for Channel 17 is posted at Santa Barbara Channels TV Schedule
· Setup is @ 5:30PM. Be on time! Live TV starts on schedule, ready or not. Arrive by 5:30PM to be sure there's adequate time for setup, tuning, and sound checks.
*Things to Bring:***
· Bring everything needed to CREATE your music: Instruments, Amps, and Cords. Extra strings and back up equipment is wise in case something breaks.
· We'll supply equipment to RECORD your sound (e.g., mics/cords/stands for recording drums & amps).
· If you're not sure about equipment, bring it, or ask ahead of time (send an email booking@musicalcafe.com).
We also recommend bringing
· a written list up upcoming gigs (where and when) so we can promote your shows.
· a banner listing your band's name and web address (handmade is fine--doesn't need to be fancy)
· CD's or other merchandise (e.g., t-shirts or posters) to give away to our callers and crew.
*The TV Audience:*
· Our audience is mainly young adults although we have had callers from 8 years old to over 80 years old.
· Tell your fans to watch and call in; the number is 805-416-2405, which will appear on the screen at times during the show.
*The Studio Audience:*
· You are encouraged to bring up to 50 guests (including the band) to be in the studio. That isn't necessary, but it's a good idea when feasible. Guests are typically shown on TV during the show, and their applause & enthusiasm adds to your performance. Tell them to arrive between 6:30-6:45 pm.
*Other Info:*
· DVD recordings of your show are available after the show. First one is free and dubs are available at $15.
· Our crew is composed mostly of musicians and music lovers working as volunteers to give up-and-coming talent a venue and publicity in the S.B. area. Our show is available to 68,000 households, and is usually watched by thousands of people. We starting our 10th year doing Musical Café.
