....After staying out of the studio for a long time, I've decided to start re-recording all of my songs again. WHo knows, I might even start playing live again. Plus I'm now working on some film music. As a result I've eased off on my blogging, but I'm still around. ....What is here at the moment are a variety demos. The vocals are NOT by me, they are all by a friend named Rod Power. In my re-recording I've decided to be brave and sing them myself... (although that may change.) ........Current Song Notes.... ........Really Really Do.... is a favourite of mine - a delicate love song with a wistfulness to it. I wanted to write a song that said "I love you", but struggled with how cliche that was. So this was my response. I like my piano solo in the middle too. Rod sang this really well. The xylophone at the end quotes a melody from another song I wrote (a common Sting trick that I ahem - "borrowed") ........My Heart Is On Fire.... is a bit curious in that it is the only song I've ever written that had no guitar part. The lyrics were my attempt at a "Rumi" style of poetry. (The title is also the first line of the Rumi poem .."Caught in the fire of love"..). It's a 5/4 dance track, (if that's even possible). Listen for some wicked triangle playing in the second half (thank you very much). ........I Choose You.... is something I did just recently - it's not even remotely finished and there are no vocals yet (and it ends rather abruptly). But it shows a more atmospheric side of my writing that few would be familiar with. And yes, I'm playing the violin on that. I'll upload a new version when it is further developed. ........Uncertain Skye.... If you've been reading my blogs you'll know that I just bought a heap of new equipment and I have only just begun to get my head around it. This is the first output from the new system. This track reflects my complete disregard for cultural authenticity - there are Celtic, Hip-hop, African, Middle-Eastern and Indian elements in here.

Bio:

After staying out of the studio for a long time, I've decided to start re-recording all of my songs again. WHo knows, I might even start playing live again. Plus I'm now working on some film music. As a result I've eased off on my blogging, but I'm still around.

What is here at the moment are a variety demos. The vocals are NOT by me, they are all by a friend named Rod Power. In my re-recording I've decided to be brave and sing them myself... (although that may change.)

..Current Song Notes..

..Really Really Do.. is a favourite of mine - a delicate love song with a wistfulness to it. I wanted to write a song that said "I love you", but struggled with how cliche that was. So this was my response. I like my piano solo in the middle too. Rod sang this really well. The xylophone at the end quotes a melody from another song I wrote (a common Sting trick that I ahem - "borrowed")

..My Heart Is On Fire.. is a bit curious in that it is the only song I've ever written that had no guitar part. The lyrics were my attempt at a "Rumi" style of poetry. (The title is also the first line of the Rumi poem "Caught in the fire of love"). It's a 5/4 dance track, (if that's even possible). Listen for some wicked triangle playing in the second half (thank you very much).

..I Choose You.. is something I did just recently - it's not even remotely finished and there are no vocals yet (and it ends rather abruptly). But it shows a more atmospheric side of my writing that few would be familiar with. And yes, I'm playing the violin on that. I'll upload a new version when it is further developed.

..Uncertain Skye..
