My earliest memory of music is listening to the Beach Boys' "Endless Summer" over and over again at the age of 2. Those amazing harmonies and beautiful songs filled my young mind with amazing sensations and visions. I was hooked. The spirit had possessed me. I come from a very musical family, and grew up listening to all sorts of good music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. My roots are definitely planted in vintage rock, and I endeavor to write songs with clever and interesting melodies that can stand on their own, with or without amazing production. After earning a B.F.A. in Acting from UC Santa Barbara and passing on an opportunity to go to grad school at the National Theatre Conservatory, I moved to Los Angeles. I spent several years there playing regularly restaurants and clubs as a solo act, and eventually put together a four-piece band. We played all around Southern California, and with them I recorded my debut, full-length album "Eloquent Cool"(Copies are available at www.cdbaby.com/davidcourtenay, and downloads are available on itunes). After checking out the L.A. scene, I decided it was time to move on to a different city with a more vibrant music scene, so I headed to Chicago. Here I've assembled a new original band with some great Chicago musicians called Modern Conversation. I've also been having a blast playing the role of John Lennon in a Beatles tribute band called BritBeat, playing festivals all over the Midwest and East Coast. If you enjoy the music, spread the word, but most importantly, spread the love baby!
Dood! Never hear from you. What are you up to!!?? Any word on when you might be mixing those tracks we recorded? Would love to hear something that is semi-finished.
Hope alls well in Chi-town. Things are good here. Holla back homey.
Hey Sagget sorry I missed your last presentation dude but as you know i've been busy with the whole "wedding" thing, next time you are in town give me a call and we'll arrange an Amigos reunion!!
P.S Dude your song from the video kicks ass!! good job Sagget!
Hey there! Delilah Pathos is actually the name of my houseplant... I'm lame, I know. Anyway, I always thought "Man Eating Cataloupe" would be a great band name. Is it a man, eating some cantaloupe, or a man-eating cantaloupe? The world may never know!!
We'll miss you tomorrow in Arlington Heights! Are you comin' anyway? The Redwalls are phenomenal!!!
And moving to Chicago has become a long story, best not shared in the public comments section of a person's myspace who has over 1000 friends!
Diggin' the tunes, btw-I listen to your album *all* the time. : )
Hey how are you doing out there stranger? When are you gonna put up my favorite song about the head down in the sand?! Hope you're doing great:) xoxo ps. I put you in my top friends!
Hey, how's thing's going? I hope the search for lead guitar has been successful. I got a show on Sunday at the Elbo room at 9. FYI, Silvie's Lounge is looking for acoustic performers on Monday nights and Underground Lounge is looking for the same on Wednesday nights.
